No Grande Parisienne for 1970?

Just occurred to me - I've never seen one, don't see it in the brochure.  I take it the model didn't carry into 1970?

1970 saw the introduction of US nameplates into Canada so the Bonneville, Executive and Catalina joined the Canadian line up so that would have been a lot of overlap in model offerings with a Grande Parisienne too.

Our neighbour, Mr. Gilfoil, bought a 1970 Bonneville, gold with brown vinyl roof, 4dr hardtop. I can still hear that 455 throbbing at idle. I decided that one day I'd own a Bonneville even though I was 12....I did.

That's true, it was a weird year since some of both were available. If anyone knows anything about the rhyme or reason for the model mix in 1970, I'd be happy to learn!

I know my Dad was going to buy a Parisienne (Wound up with a 69 instead) and my grandfather a Catalina, and it was the same dealership I think!

I was able to drive both my Catalina and 2+2 back to back before the first snow, very different driving experience. Even though my 2+2 has a much bigger front bar the Catalina felt like a much more substantial car with a more solid feeling body structure. The 2+2 was much lighter feeling and more nimble. It actually felt more like an intermediate car. I'll weigh both of them next spring, I'll bet there is a several hundred pound difference. The cat has a 428 and AC so just there is probably almost 300 pounds. Also the Pontiac frame is much sturdier looking with a deeper and wider cross sections and an extra cross member, the chevy frame looks a lot like the A body frames of that era except for the front suspension which doesn't use the typical double A arm system.

Sales brochures I have list Catalina at 4,187 lbs where 2+2 is listed at 3,990 lbs. LeMans is listed at 3,842. Your gut feel North is right on.
