Swiss 1957 Pathfinder

Hello everyone

My Pathfinder was put together in Biel, by GM Switzerland. But it's a real canadian model. In 1957 you could buy both models in Switzerland,  the canadian 2019 and the us 7240 model.

Unfortunately I don't know that much about it's history but I know that the original colour was grey and it was the original paint untill middle of the 1990s. Then the owner changed it for the actual yellow and black. Except for the colour of the car everything else is still original. As a canadian model the engine is the 261 CI with powerglide, powersteering and no power brake. The rear axle is 3.36 : 1 ratio. In 1957 the car cost CHF 17'950 and if you wanted to have the two tone colour you had to spend CHF 125 more.

Par hazard I found the original advertisement for the car on a flee market in Switzerland. (See picture below)

Very nice Tine! I like the black/yellow colour combination. It suites the car.

That brochure is something that many people on this site will find interesting.

Thanks.

Tine, like i have said before on other postings........... I LOVE YOUR 57 PONTIAC. When you drive your 57 there, you must be an island in a sea of ho hum hum drum cars. Tine, is there any way you can post photos of your 261 inline six cylinder engine. Like you, i love 57 Pontiac's and i love these original motors. Tine, can you give us a history about how you got the car and maybe even the cars previous owners. I would like to recommend that you make your car a C.P. feature car. Todd (our C.P. boss) what do you think ? Send Todd photos of your 57 and all the information you can  about the car. We here at C.P. would love to see it featured. Please do not be a stranger here on C.P. If you have any questions at all about your 57, ask them here. You will get an honest and truthful answer. Cheers to a fellow 57 Pontiac owner. George

For Easter weekend we drove to south of France for a couple of days, enjoying the sunshine (while in switzerland there was snow) and havind a good time. The Pontiac did very well for the over 2200 km ride, without any trouble.

Sounds like a great drive. The scenery is spectacular and even better when view from an antique car.

FB_IMG_1497205532080.jpgToday we went to an oldtimer meeting near Zürich and we found this one. A 1957 Safari, I think it would look really good next to mine. :)
