Here's an interesting one - 1955 "Star Chief" convertible that is actually a Canadian Pontiac ... Laurentian?

Described as a Canadian Pontiac by the middle-man broker, this 265-powered black beauty shows no markings (other than firewall tag) of its Canadian heritage. Did not 55's show "Laurentian" on the trim for top-line cars?

For sale in our Fort Lauderdale showroom is this stunning 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Convertible.

In 1955 GM made two different Pontiacs: American and Canadian.

The Canadian Chevrolet plant fitted Pontiac tail lights and front ends to 1955 Chevrolets, added a Pontiac dashboard, body trim and special hub caps, to fit the Chevy wheels, and called them Pontiacs. The entire rest of the car is a 1955 Chevrolet including the interior and a 265 Chevy V8 with âPontiacâ stamped on the Chevy valve covers. There were only 65o Canadian convertibles produced. Very few survived the harsh Canadian environment.

This example of a RUST FREE well cared for, original 39,000 mile car with a 265 V8 is truly rare. Once again, all eyes lit up when this car rolled into our South Florida showroom. A piece of American History, that looks and drives close to brand new after 61 years. Only the new car smell is gone. Is there a better color combination than black/red for a 50âs convertible out there? Not one that shines like this beauty. The whole car is just clean; fantastic paint; interior; chrome; undercarriage. No signs of any kind of rust underneath the car; ¼ panels; trunk or anywhere else. This is how it should be. The Star Chief runs like a dream. The 265ci V8 engine sounds strong and moves the car without any problems. The transmission shifts through the gears like a warm knife through butter. This Pontiac will go another 60 years with ease. If you look at this piece of art on wheels, it will prove again that the Americans built the most beautiful, and best cars in the 50âs (and I am a German guy saying that!!!). Sheâs in excellent condition and this Star Chief will look great in any collection; at the golf club or in front of your favorite restaurant. Press the power top button and enjoy the convertible feeling. Wherever you show up in this beautiful car, people will get a big smile on their face. This is a must see. She is ready for the new owner. Wir sprechen deutsch. Let it ride!!!

Here's a photo of Al Taylor's 55 Laurentian. I think we can rely on Al to do te car absolutely perfectly and there is no Laurentian name plate on it.

That's a real nice original 55........Two tone paint would have really woke it up...

The factory power steering and brakes really set it apart.

Do Canadian Pontiacs command 60k US?
