It's a pleasure to have Dave Anderson's 1964 Acadian Beaumont Custom as our February feature car. Dave's not afraid to get his hands dirty and because of this he can happily say that he did all the work himself. The results are a Poncho that not only looks great, but is also extremely reliable. Dave tells us the story of this terrific Acadian Beaumont:
I bought the car in Dec 2001. My Friend Norm Milne(Rickshawdude on CanadianPoncho) found the car for me. It belonged to a co-worker of his.
We went to look at the car and found it inside a garage in west Winnipeg. The car was last registered in 1981(20 years off the road). The guy had bought the car in Brandon in 1965. Yes thats right, a one year old car at the time. He drove the car as daily transportation from 1965-1981 then parked it in the garage and it never moved again. Go Figure??
So there I am standing in this garage looking at an Ember Red 1964 Beaumont Custom 2dr HT 283 PG that has not seen the light of day since 1981. With the typical dirt, dust, lawn equipment and brooms piled on it the guy hits me with I was going to get it running and ask 1500 or so, but if you want it, its yours for 300 dollars. One hour later its in my driveway! Tow-bar it home in a December snowstorm!
I have now owned the car for 15 years. I have slowly fixed it up but have always kept it in running condition. I have done lots of long haul trips with it. It's a very reliable car.
It is a very cool color combo - Ember red with Desert beige roof. The car was last painted in 1965 when the second owner bought it. I am the third owner now. I did repaint the roof. (It had been repainted pure white and did not do the rare color combo any justice). The red is still from 1965 with some touch ups.
I have fixed up the interior a lot. The door panels and headliner are still the originals. The carpet is new.
It is far from perfect but I dont care. I have done all the work myself and I am not afraid to drive it and enjoy it.
I did get the GM docs, it is one of 652 cars built. Ember Red/ Desert beige.
Options are slim
A02 Tinted windshield
C14 wipers/washers

Original Selling Dealer: Chapman Motors Killarney Manitoba.
It has manual steering and brakes, just the way it should be
I suffer from Carls Option-itis so I did add a few factory accessories such as the rear defogger, park brake warning, vacuum trunk release, and under dash courtesy lights. I also added a factory day/night mirror, front and rear bumper guards(I just think 64s look better with them and the front ends are so flat to begin with. Love em or hate em!!
Congratations Dave on a great looking car. I love the color combo as I've never seen it before. Great story and you probably got one of the best deals on a feature car that we have heard of. Thanks for sharing and continued good luck with it.
Dave, congrats on being February's pin-up ! Real nice and rare first year unit. I like a guy who gets a bit of grease under his fingernails doing his own work and not just buying a ready built car. Keep up the good work.
Had a high school teacher who had a '64 when they first came out in '64. Light green metallic, six holer , PG and custom interior. Not many left, I guess.
Congrats on feature car Dave, clean little 64! Not far from perfect in my mind...how many 52 yr old cars have orig paint! Keep on driving and enjoying year round. x3 on the colour combo...luv it!
Nice car and great rescue! Like the white/red combo!

Well this sure is a pleasant surprise. So nice to see Dave's car at the top of the page, well deserved. Great car, great story great guy, what more do you need.
Did you custom bend a hard line for coolant from intake manifold to under-dash gauge? Looks cool!
Dave
Thank you everyone! It is a fun car! 64 is still my favorite year, even tho its not the popular one!
I just had it in the garage all last week, put on factory rear swaybar and the big 1 1/4 front one that carl gave me last year.
Dave, that is just the original capillary tube that came with the sunpro gauge. its got a sort of spiral casing, i have since covered it with a period correct cloth loom so it looks way better now.

Hello Dave Great looking car and still with the original paint, which is quite rare as well as the color combo. Will be great to look at your car for the next month at the top of the page.
Great looking 64 Dave and a equally great story and a terrific buy!! Good for you...that 350 must surprise a few people when you take off from the stop light on Portage once in a while!!! Enjoy your time at the top of the page...a very deserving Beaumont enthusiast!!
For the past few days I have been looking at the CP banner wondering if my eyes were going. It looked really fuzzy or pixelated. Well it turns out my Photoshop settings somehow changed and the banner was being saved at low resolution. The issue has been fixed and the banner looks MUCH better now. My apologies to Dave!
