It's a blast, I've only been pit crew so far, my brothers and I are putting together a team, there's a single flat head class, stock engines, and twin/OHV class, stock engines, a v-twin stock engine class, and a supermod class which is pretty near go-kart territory but faster lol, dunno if we're going to see an outlaw (up to 340cc snowmobile engine dirt bike, etc), it was just introduced 3 years ago here, went once in the second season and have been hooked ever since, what better thing to do on a Sunday afternoon lol, no money prizes,(keeps emotions out) just points races, and a trophy and bragging rights at the end of the season, the track takes what it needs for maintence, and any profits are donated to a worthy charity, what better way to have it?

That just looks so awesome! Racing that would be absolute silly fun, and not cost a fortune.

I'd imagine during the race teams must get pretty serious, but it must be a good gut busting laugh as well!

I spent a number of years mentoring some "at risk" teenage boys. One of those boys was about all-things-mechanical from when he happened to be our next door neighbour early on at age 2. When he ended up in our program later at about age 14, he would show up at our shop night (the shop was out in the country) driving his tractor which had a stock engine but had some serious gearing changes using pulleys to alter the ratio. One day I ended up following him down the highway and he was doing an honest 45 mph on his garden tractor! I followed him at that speed for close to 3 miles! Crazy kid would never wear a helmet either, as much as I tried to make him.

A friend of mine in Ontario is huge into lawnmower racing. I watched a couple of races that he was in and man do these "mowers" ever fly! Some nasty Nascar-style wrecks too!

We just have the oval, but even the single cylinder flat head class are doing 50k into the corners, twins and v-twins are doing 70+

IMG_1095.JPGAlright guys racing season is over, my brothers and i's "half-cut racing" team had a pretty successful season overall, all within the top 5, throughout the whole season. #79 after a rough season finished 4 in his class and got a much needed win followed by 2 second place finishes, just a little too late that we figured out his issue all season. The 71 had an awesome season, finishing 2nd overall in his division dispite some shallow competition, but pulled off a 1st followed by 2 second place finishes. Finally my season ended up awesome and had a ton of fun rounding out the top 3 of my division, figuring out my brake setup was holding me back, after the whole season fixing that and pulling off a triple win, only separating 1-2-3 was 350pts, which in turn one more weekend could have changed everything lol. Overall it's was a Wikked season meeting new people and getting a trophy at the end of the season made it all worth while, followed by an unexpected plaque for the seasons most improved driver, great way to spend the summer and keep a fella outta trouble lol! ( top pic me #67, then #79, followed by #71
