Mini Tach Instal in Dash of my 67 Impala

I mention to Exeltec that I would like to find a way to hook up the Smiths tach that I had and they suggested a small one from Princess Auto that only cost 35.00.   I went over and picked it up and took it to the shop and Mike who has been doing most of the work on the car said that they could pull the instrument cluster and fit the tach in place of the Gen/Oil position.

Mike had previously placed a string of LED lights in the base of the cluster as I complained that the instruments could not be seen to clearly. That would be remedied with another string of LED when the tach was placed in the cluster.

Mike and Doug have been very creative in doing the A/C instalation and I was confident that the tach would look real fine when done.

??  What do you think.

Looks good. Are you replacing your Oil & Gen lights with gauges?

No need to replace the warning lights.

I have a gauge cluster under the  dash with an ammeter gauge and an oil pressure in the gauge pack that includes the temp sensor in the block.

Originally the temp sensor was over top of the thermostat housing.   With the new rad and hose arrangement the temp sensor was moved to the cylinder head,  which will give more accurate readings.    The alternator is a single wire feed also

That's what I meant.  You've replaced the warning lights with gauges.

Looks good. Have you tried it yet? Just wondering how accurate yours is. I mounted one in my 2+2 a few years back and it's out a bit. I do like the look of them though. Similar to the Sun Super Tach.

Not to concerned  about spot on accuracy.   Just wanted to know what kind of revs that the motor was turning over.

Tonight I saw about 2000 at 50 mph.

Takes away the thought that I was beating up the motor.
