looking for the seals / gaskets for the 3 speed transmission in m sons car, it leaks out from the bottom of the cowl, the rear main seal was done and is tight. the transmission mechanic could not find the seal needed, i located a transmission in pickering from a great pontiac collector, purchased it, but it was not the same as the one on the car. the purchased unit has the following ID #s 591747 and 3686862 GM which should be the correct 19491954 transmission. the mounts are different and the housing is stockier shorter, the one on the car appears to be longer and slimmer casing. i cannot get the ID markings as it is still in storage, does anyone have any idea what alternative transmission could be on my car?
thank you i will, m specific problem is knowing which transmission is in the car, the seals, gaskets i can get, i am dealing with Brent of tourist transmissions states side. although i will call fatsco, i have a friend in jersey that can pick it up and ship or hand deliver .
