Well...started in on the 4dr tonight. Can't believe how clean this car is, not a spot of rust in the usual areas! Doug kept me on the phone until 9:30...so didn't get as much done as I wanted(all Dougs fault!!)! Spent the last couple of evenings getting it to run right (rebuilt engine, not by me) and wanted to make sure I didn't have to pull engine back out. Got her purring so all's good. Dragged the son down to the shop at 9:30 and he didn't seem to ambitious, but once he started he was all into it! Not a heck of a lot done, but think this will be a good father/son project. Just nice to be back in a garage and not on a couch...has been a long winter with no work area!!!!
What's with the tool box with the gauges on the side? Cool idea. You checking the car's vital signs or yours? Lol

For working on cars with idiot lights. Plastic tool box that I can set on batt. Oil/water/amps with tach in the top and tool box holds all the fittings/adapters,multi meter and remote starter switch. Just grab and go.
Looking good there Jim.
Guess I better get mine and the daughter's butts in gear and make some progress. Gotta make it run and move this year, pushing it around ain't fun anymore.
Finally had time to play with the sons 4dr..don't think I'll make the June 5th deadline! Got the DS 1/4 off and wheel well prepped for some repairs. Not all that bad for 50 years of mud/rain. Can't buy a 4dr 1/4 so picked up 2 dr 1/4's and will mod to fit. Son is getting pumped! Keeps polishing all his trim, over and over! Better get my #$$ in gear!
2 dr 1/4 is on the 4dr. Still need to pack 4 swap meet, can someone add a couple more hrs to the day....please!!!! When welding/grinding,don't forget to cover your glass...seen to many guys have to replace!!
Looks great Jim.
I think all of us that have been welding/grinding have been there at least once.
And I second the adding more hours to the day after work, or maybe we should just spend less hours at work?
Does that really help with getting things done Carl?

Absolutely Dan. I just finished 2 hour tilling in the yard. That will give me more time to either do some detailing on my old car later today (if it rains) or take it for a drive if it doesn't rain.
I don't want to EVER have to work 5 days a week again. A 4 day work week is the best thing in the world (other than maybe a 3 day work week)

Son and I have been pounding in the shop every night,he sands...I fit and fab. A few pin holes turned out to be big holes after I hit them with the wire wheel! All the rust spots have been cut out and butt weld patches made. Pass side 1/4 is in place,so next step is to weld everything in place and start on body work. Hes catching on quick, showed him how to sand a chip and feather out (not the way the car looks in pic). He did a couple of spots and no ridge/step! Oh..asked him what colour he wanted to paint it....back to original!
Wow, good for you guys. Won't be long and he will be able to make some good money on the side when he has a good instructor like you. Not many young guys with an interest of rust repair and body work for old cars but still lots of guys wanting it done and not having to pay full shop rate. Keep it up.
Wow! I think I have a new plan, KC and I will just throw her's on the trailer and bring it out in say, September. You should be done this one by then and looking for a winter project.
All I have managed to do lately is repair rusty horse trailer, although it was good practice.

Thanks guys and yes Jerel....can't have him having clean finger nails. James was busy this weekend(teenager) so I went down to the shop and welded up pass side Sat morn and started in on driver side Sunday morn. We should be able to finish up welding/sanding this week and then start applying the wrinkle cream.

Horse trailer is done, so no need to waste precious supplies there.
We can assess it when you are here in August.
I just might have a weeks worth of time left come fall, not sure how purple will look with bright blue interior?
Got any black vinyl dye in stock?
Thanks Mark! Well....decided to get rid of the lace table cloth on the roof! Don't think I'll be eating up there anyway! Finished up welding/sanding...bondo time!!

Been a while, but back on the sons 4dr. Passed his driver test last week....so looking for something to drive! Should be ready for prime and prep in the next day or two then paint. Stripped the car down to bare steel(still have pillars to do).Funny thing when I was working on one of the fenders.....18 holes had been welded up!!
