1959 ElCamino

This 1959 ElCamino is a fresh build. Has been built to look like an Old School patina shop truck. This car has a low mile (15thousand) 305 Chev engine with an aluminum intake and AFB four barrel carb. and a Powerglide transmission. New drop spindles and power disk brakes also has power steering. New interior, new dual exhaust. Has new floor pans and minor frame repair. The body is in good condition. The patina on the car is all paint (there is No Rust ) These first year ElCaminos are rare and this one stands out in a crowd. $24,500.

Very cool car, I have always had a great appreciation for '59s.

Having owned many cars with actual rust on them over the years, though, I am not a fan of deliberately making it look rusty.  Would much prefer a clean paint job, but different strokes for different folks.

Good luck with the sale!

I know this look is not for everyone. I had a hard time with it myself (I retired a few years ago from forty years of restoring them). This is the fourth one I have done and have sold everyone of them quickly??? The last one was a 55 Nomad that was on the cover of Canadian Hot Rods magazine (Go Figure??)

I absolutely know where you're coming from, and my comments weren't meant as a slam in any way.  Actually I neglected to compliment you on your work as the patina actually looks very real!

I think living in NS all my life has ruined me for appreciation of patina and the rat rod world.  When I was in my younger years and not able to afford a decent car, I drove many cars that had so much rust that they probably shouldn't have been on the road... ahh, the innocence and perceived invincibility of youth!  Fenders and quarter panels flapping in the wind were standard equipment, and don't drop anything on the floor because it will probably fall out on the road whizzing by below... What's that knocking noise?  Oh, it's probably where the suspension mounts have broken - no worries, just don't take any fast turns... biggrin

For those who desire the weathered look, your Elky is just the ticket.  Also, I really like how you integrated buckets and console into the interior.  Very cool!

Nice work, I like my cars shiny though but a 59 El Camino is one of my favorites. Mine was red and white with dog dish and blackwalls, those dog dish look very good on yours.

That car is screaming for a 348 tri-power bench 4 speed to be thrown into it!! Then it'll be finished..........But that's my idea of real cool retro car.

This car was originally a 348/Powerglide. The original motor is long gone, I wish I still had it cause it would be in it for sure.

Interesting, I've been hearing a lot about "our" cars going overseas lately.  I'm sure our low dollar makes them even more attractive over and above their base appeal.

I honestly hate to see them leave the country, but what can you do when nobody offers your price in Canada?  Sell it cheap, then the next owner will probably sell it overseas...

A buddy recently sold his '66 Charger to Dubai, so it's happening all over.  It is what it is.

Terry, i am glad you sold that fine 59 of yours but it is always sad when these cars go away and never come back. A sign of our times i suppose. Terry, what is your next project. Cheers.

George. My next project is a 1957 Chev 210 two door post. Did this one up over the winter. No patina this time. Painted it the original Inca silver put new factory green tinted glass in it and four TorkThrust D wheels. It's has a hot rod 355 in it, a 350 Turbo and a 9" Ford with a 373 Possie.
