Gauge lighting question

I installed a aftermarket tach in my car, hooked everything up to what seemed to be the proper connections, however now the light on the tach is very bright when I turn on lights and the lights in the factory gauges are very dim. Wondering if this a power drain issue and if you have to put some kind of resister in the line with the new tach? It says the tach uses a 2 watt bulb which seems high to me?

Any help would be appreciated.

Could be just the bulb(bright). If you pop the bulb out of the tack do the dash lights brighten (grounding)?

The dimming switch dims the lights, but then you can't see the other gauges at all. I have it hooked up to a good ground I believe. I guess I could try to find a smaller watt bulb?

Just for laughs, take the bulb out of the tach and see if everything returns to normal. I suspect a lower wattage bulb will solve your problem.

Yes I tried this and it did work, now trying to find a lower wattage bulb to put in.
