1967 Pontiac Parisienne 2+2

Hello everybody. Has been a long time since I have asked any questions. I have tried to decode the vin number of this car with a little success. 7688771158xxx. I know the last 7 means the year. I think it was built in Oshawa, and came with a V8. After that i am lost as american vins are different and just screwing with my brain. Cowel tag information.  STYLE 768872-6-2 (confusing).  BODY OS761131.  Paint 966 ( I am guessing signet gold as it is an original car )  TRIM 573.  and then this M4O   CO8TP27U80. Hope you can help. Thank you

Off the top of my head-

768 Parisienne 2+2

87 2 door hardtop

7 is 1967

1 is the plant code. Did someone say 1 is Oshawa on a different thread? Oshawa used to be a O in earlier VIN's.

On the cowl tag, remove the 76887 and you have 2-6-2 which is month-day-2nd shift.

OS761131 is the body sequence number

M40 is turbo 400

C08 is vinyl top

TP27 is top colour and I think that is black in this case

U80 is rear speaker

I may have made some mistakes which someone will hopefully correct if I did, as I said, off the top of my head.

I am doing this on my phone and it is a PITA to navigate and that was my BIGGEST fear that I would hit post and I would be be beat to it.... Lucky this time (lol)

In '67, they went to the 1 as the designation for Oshawa plant.. It was a 0 before..

Great. Now I have to see if engine and trans match up. Engine looks a little to clean.

Most likely a 327 was original... Grap the stamping off the block pad just in front of the right (pass side) cylinder head.. (Ex:K0601KL)

Because it's a Turbo 400 car, it had to have a minimum of a 327. Don't give up hope that it could be a big block car. We had a member here years ago with one that the original engine was gone and it turned out to have been a big block car originally with the pretty rare F41 suspension.
