Paul, so far i know that PAINT 2004 is Sherwood Green Metallic. BSO 213 is for the optional extra cost Heavy Duty suspension. STYLE 2062F must be the Safari four door and TRIM 915 must be the two tone green interior. If i learn anything else i will let you know. Cheers. George

Thanks for the info. George where did you find it?Any info. on codes seems to be for the U.S models.
Were Canadian wagons referred to as Safari Deluxe instead of Pathfinder Deluxe?

The book of Canadian ID numbers lists a model 2062F as a Pathfinder Deluxe 4door wagon V8, 6 passenger. Serial numbers begin with 22062F800001. Original price $3287 with a weight of 3490 pounds. Being a 4dr it would not be in the mold of a true 55, 56 or 57 Safari which is much the same styling as a 55 thru 57 Chevrolet Nomad. The true 2 door Strato Chief Safaris were only made in Michigan. All 57 wagons are not Safaris.

My Cdn paint swatches show a code X004 which translates into Highland Green Metallic. GM had a Highland Green in 55, 57 and 59 but they all had different mix codes. Sherwood green metallic is a GM colour name used in 54 and again in 55/56. The 54 has a different mix code than 55/56.

Paul, i made a correction. BSO 213 is for the Heavy Duty suspension option. This was a factory installed extra cost option.

Also for your information. GM Canada built just over 47,000 1957 Pontiac's at the Oshawa, Ontario plant and this was a very good production year for Pontiac. Especially being a recession year that caused lower production numbers for many car companies. For the Canadian population at the time, this was a very impressive production number for Pontiac.

Where did you find the 47,000 produced as I am looking for how many wagons were built in 57?

I got that production figure from the GM Canada information package that George Zapora sent me from GM Canada Vintage services. If you send them your (Canadian) V.I.N. number and the fee, they will send information relating to your car. It is worth the cost.
