When are Canadian retailers gonna learn? The entire side of my fridge is covered in Rock Auto magnets. Each magnet represents a sale a local company could have made if they had even been in the ballpark...

Great deal.

We spend about $125,000/year with a local parts supplier through my work. My cost for that same wire set through them is over $70.00 Canadian....

Since I told the boss about Rock Auto we have been using them quite a bit for parts on our work vehicles. We have a Chevy Colorado with a bad alternator. Local shops were nowhere near the price of Rock Auto so we ordered a Delco from them. It's due to arrive on the 28th.

As much as i love this great country of ours (Canada), we live in the land of the rip off in every way. We pay too much for everything and are over taxed on everything. Americans are far better off than we are in those two regards. In most things i buy through Amazon and it usually is an American firm that supply's, i am sad to say.

I have to agree with long stroke we are way overtaxed in Canada. Especially with our municipal property tax. I usually buy 90% of my parts from Bensons which is a AC Delco supplier and I get good prices and the parts are mostly AC Delco. and are in stock or overnight. I just had to put a new battery in my 2000 Silverado an 800cca AC Delco battery. I brought my old one into Bensons to get the date code on the battery checked and it was still under warranty. 50 months 100% and 7 years pro rated. I was only a couple of months over the 50 but they still replaced the battery free of charge. The best part was I could not find my receipt but they had a record of it on my account and there was no problem. Sometimes being loyal to a local dealer pays off. If I am not in a hurry for parts I will use Rock Auto but only after checking the type of part and the manufacture of it.

Do not forget we have a universal health care in Canada which Americans have to pay for individual that cost them plenty of money.

Our healthcare isn't free either. Just because you don't get a bill, doesn't mean you're not paying for it.

That's the kind of store you want in your neighbourhood.

I've seen stuff like that happen at our dealership. My boss covers it out of his pocket. People love to call them "stealerships". They have no idea what it actually costs to open the doors each day.

I use a local supplier as much as possible, most times they all sell the same part made in the same place, whether local or Rockauto. To get warranty like was said above is not normal, keep buying from people like that, the warranty is great advertising.
