Way better than Christmas cake!

How is the odour from it? I assume they were painted and dried long ago, not fresh? What coating did you use?

Yes, I did mine when she was gone travelling for the weekend ... they stunk out the whole house. I bet the fumes are toxic.

I used the "cast iron" colour.

I'll replicate the alternator "nub" chevy orange overspray at a later date (my cleaned-up ram's horns before):

I didnt realize the nub gets a dose of orange

thats cool!

as far as the aluminum color goes...

the local ctc store always has aluminum paint on hand

so I just use it

the cast color looks great!

have you installed your manifolds yet?

if so, did you notice more power??

Yes, the manifolds were on before the engine got paint. There's overspray that's pretty ugly in some places on our engines. Most of the time it's gone now, 50 years later but there's some cars that still have bits and pieces of it showing where you wouldn't think there'd be orange paint.

No I haven't installed them yet. They are spares waiting for a complete engine rebuild.

The heat riser is another thing you should look at. See if it is free moving.

I removed the baffle set-up out of a spare heat riser and Cold Weld epoxied the pin hole, then painted it cast colour. Now it has a smooth, flow-through design. Looks almost stock once installed. They actually sell them like this aftermarket. Word of caution; used for warm weather driving only.

Here is a pic from the 12k original mile 66 Parisienne. Shows the overspray. Might be interesting or helpful?
