Pontiac NOS Parts Porn of the Day

I managed to find an NOS horn shroud in red, quite a score for me!  I spend money in inverse relation to how much time you spend looking at it, and the steering wheel and instrument cluster come in near the top of that list...

For the curious they share the same part number.

Three-something, if I remember correctly. I'd pay 5-600 for the wheel itself though! I haven't seen one of the repro wheels for cars, but the truck wheels are floppy like noodles in comparison, so I hope to find the real deal. Too bad it's shared with Camaros and Chevelles...

BTW, while I'm figuring out to employ millions of dollars of tech to clone an emblem, why do you have five of them on pegboard? Five is an odd number, and my one is an odd number. You should fix that!

BTW, here's one without the wood (perfect for a Laurentian or Strato Shief) for $299:

You gotta wonder who hangs onto a new part like that for so long and why they never did anything with it...

What is interesting is that the 69 2+2 shouldnt have the woodgrain wheel according to all the factory documents but every 2+2 Ive ever seen has woodgrain.

Really? That's funny, I've always asserted the 2+2 should be plain because Impala SS is plain (or black, but not woodgrain). Since I view the 2+2 as basically an Impala SS, you'd expect it to not have woodgrain. But clearly my original does, and my other two 2+2s did, so... no idea!

BTW obviously the horn medallion I transferred over from the original, I didn't find that on eBay I cleaned it up with my wife's Sonicare (spare brush, don't judge me) and jewellery cleaner! It came out pretty nice, but not perfect (if you have one where the black is perfect, I could use one!).

I HAVE SEEN A FEW 1969 SS427 CARS WITH WOODGRAIN, INCLUDING THE ONE I OWNED.

RE: Pontiac NOS Parts Porn of the Day - Steering wheel

I have not seen a RED  NOS  wheel available for years  . This one deserves to be on your project.

Pontiac NOS Parts Porn of the Day

Wow, I'm tempted. But it sure is a bright red. I wish he listed a part number so I could confirm it matches my interior. The last thing I'd want is to drop that kind of money and find out there was a Bright Red interior on the Camaro I didn't know about.

I would be taken aback by the price but I walked away from an NOS deal on my GMC truck steering wheel at $800, and the seller let me walk, so...

OK, seller sent me a picture of the part number on the box, which was 3997589. Went through my parts book in a panic, and in group 6.513 I found

6.513 WHEEL, STEERING
3997589 1969/ALL DARK RED

So there it was. Add to Cart, just that easy! I can't believe I really bought a wheel at that price but I've been searching to find out what the -last- one was that came up and I can't find one that ever did, at least in red NOS. So I grabbed it before someone cloning a COPO Camaro does

Thanks a lot to HOWMAC for the heads up!  I've been seaching a couple of times a week but didn't catch this one yet!  Please do continue to post any cool finds like that, better these parts wind up on Pontiac than a Chevy!

Damn. Would have been nice if you purchased that through the ebay link at the top. The site would have got a nice commission for it.

 doh

Who knew?

Anyway, Dave, if you find that elusive part, don't blink because that might be the last one you see. Great score, and a worthy place to install it! Kudos to Howie Mac.

All the 1969 2+2, Grande Parisienne, and Parisienne models used woodgrain. The Strato Chief & Laurentian did not, However there were 2 new 1969 Laurentians within a block of my house were inconsistent regarding the woodgrain. Ambros Brown had a new Verdoro Green Laurentian 4-door with a black vinyl roof & cloth interior. It had the woodgrained bar (surprise!). Mr Temperly had a new Crystal Turquoise Laurentian 4-door as expected, without the woodgrain. There was also a new Maize Yellow Parisienne sport sedan with a black vinyl roof & cloth interior (woodgrained of course).

On the eBay thing, are you sure I didn't? I clicked on the banner first to be sure. And I -know- I've clicked on the banner in the last 30 days or whatever.  The wheel wasn't IN the banner though.  If not, what else does a person need to do?  I figured clicking on the banner gave me a tracking cookie.  I sure have no problem supporting the board, doesn't cost me anything!

As for woodgrain, my 69 Laurentian didn't have it, but the 69 Parisienne I had did.

That should have worked Dave however I checked my eBay report and nothing is showing from today or yesterday. The column after the date is the number of times the eBay banner was shown. The second column is number of clicks on the eBay banner. The remaining numbers are eBay revenue, items sold, commission earned etc.  No biggie. Maybe next time it will work or perhaps it doesn't show until the seller shows the item as shipped.

I clicked the banner today at work, then searched a Cadillac owner's manual and purchased one out of the US for our dealership. Does that show?

No. The clicks are shown but nothing else. I suspect it might take a couple of days to show up on the report.

Thanks ABC123! That saves me fixing the tin on my pair!

OK, here's what I did. I clicked on the eBay link above, then came back and refreshed the ad, but the panels didn't appear. So I clicked on the ad anyway and in that browser window searched for the panels and without leaving, bought the panels. That's GOTTA work.

Here's an NOS radio which is a bit tempting since mine isn't working and I need the bracket and speaker. But I'll try to repair mine first, they can't be THAT complicated!
