Just Another 427 Powered '69 Pontiac Convertible.

This one is "only" an auto and is a Parisienne.

I knew about it a few years ago and likely posted these photos on here. I thought about it again and reached out to the person who told me about it. He has since moved away from the town this car is located in but is going to try to contact the owner. I seem to recall it's a one owner car. Notice the Tonawanda decal on the engine. Last licensed in 1974.

Nice! There's no such thing as "just a 427 convertible", I don't think! Only the second Crystal Turquoise (that's the 55) car I've ever seen, and they're both 427 cars. Expensive color I guess!

If I'm not mistaken, this car was in the Niagara Falls area. Is that right Todd?

I thought it was near Barrie. I will hopefully know where it is located soon.

I strongly believe there is a lot of these gems around.

That 1969, 396, 2+2 near me has not moved in over 35 years and wont likely move until the owner passes away.

He will probably out live me

Again,

if he sold it to me when I was 20,

which he almost did,

That car probably wouldn't exist today.

Smart man !

Man, what a nice car.  Hopefully it will see the light of day again.

This gives me hope that there is 'the car for me' languishing in a garage out there, just waiting for me to find it some day...  maybe a nice '67 or '68 big block 2+2, or a '68 Grande Parisienne, or... ???

I hear lots of rumors of treasures hiding in garages here in PEI.

There's a few of us on here in the Barrie area. If it's near us perhaps we could get together for a " viewing party ".

lol. Not quite an easy fix. I got a response back from the fellow who's friends with the owner. The car isn't currently for sale. Apparently three years ago the owners daughter expressed an interest in restoring the car. He said she could have it however she has not made any attempt to pick the car up or arrange for the restoration. Owner suspects funding is the issue. I'm told I'd have first crack at it if it does come up for sale. Perhaps the stars will align at that point and I'll be able to pull the trigger! It only seems fair for the CEO of Canadian Poncho to own a 427 Poncho!

Not just fair, but mandatory.

Nice deal .   one of our members says you can restore it for about 60,000.00 .  I would be sweet to have 2 427 convert. on site

I don't know how the frame is. It would be a big project. To be honest I'd rather a hardtop (and a 2+2!).

Interesting.  Its last licence expired in '76, and by the overspray on the trans cooler lines, subframe, strut rod, stabilizer bar from the front underside, and on its frame rail at the rear side shot,  it looks like it had already been painted.  Though it could have been for collision damage, one would expect a full paint job might have been for rust repair - when it was only 5 or 6 years old.

Every car has a story, and I always find it interesting when there are clues to what the car may have been though in its 'life'...  Would love to hear more of this car's story.

BTW, it's quite stunning in that colour combo.  Carl427 is right, it would probably cost a lot to restore it, but it sure would be a beauty when done.

Those skirts surely aggravated the rusting of those rear quarter panels! I suspect it was driven in the salt and then parked in a warmer garage.

In 1975 I bought a 68 Caprice with fender skirts. 327/TH400/12 bolt posi. I bought it to part out because the quarters were destroyed by rust. Apparently it was driven year round and parked in a heated parking lot. 7 years old, I couldn't believe how bad it was around the wheel openings.

Radial tires! Never saw that on a 69 before.

I noticed yesterday that one documented 427 car that I know of came with option R51 which is a 2/4 bias ply according to the Accessorizer, but on the docs, it's listed as

R41 8.25-15-4 PR TIRE HWY W/WALL

I was wondering if the "PR" meant radial. Thoughts? P51 clearly is radial but I wonder what R51 was?

What is the collective wisdom on value of that car as we see it, ya I know lots of unknowns.
