350 sbc brake in question

Need to brake in a freshly built 350 and my question is would it be a problem to do the brake -in   procedure with out the tranny being hooked up ? , basically with

just the ring gear and no load on the engine. thx in advance

I'm thinking it should be fine. See the attached link on some of the break in stands the members have with engines in them.

Most break in stands have no transmission so you should be good to go. Pics or video required though.

I assume you are talking break in as in cam and lifters. No reason why not since it's just a high idle run for an extended period.

Thanks for the replies fellas, here's my situation , Ive got a fresh 350 with a 700 tranny attached to my 60 Parisienne vert. with no front clip attached yet . I had the car in for body work when i found out my body man left town . I got a email from his ex wife to come and pick up the car or loose it. When i showed up the car was sitting outside, poorly covered with a beat up tarp. Anyway i got the car back with almost all the parts. Needles to say i was pretty upset.Thinking i was gonna get a finished car back , Ive been working on it for 10 yrs or so now. I decided i had enough and time to sell, but decided to take out the 350 and 700 and use them in my pick up. I have a stock 283 and powerglide to put back in the 60. So before i remove it im gonna beak it in, since its firmly attached and have easy access to it. The 700 has no lines attached so i thought of just disconnecting the TC and just leave the ring gear attached for the break in . Thats where im at, but i have to say im having second thoughts about selling , gonna see what happens .
