1969 boosters should be gold cad, correct?

Looking at a hidden/preserved part of my 1969 booster it looks to have been golden cad plated originally, so I will have it polished and replated with that process as well.  I just wanted to make sure that this wasn't a service replacement or something and the originals were black in 1969.

Thanks!

Actually its not cad plated but zinc.I restored and plated literally hundreds of them. Your master should be the tall cylindrical dual bale style with a zinc plated lid as well. The metering valve should be a large hex nut style-69 one year only.

+1 on the yellow zinc
Have pics of a 40K mile Canadian 66 Nova SS with the yellow zinc booster
Boosters purchased as a dealer accessory were painted black at least as far as my 65 is concerned
Have pics of an NOS kit with the Bendix made in Canada decal listed on eBay some time ago

I think it was on Chevytalk I read recently about the accessory power brakes being black Bendix. And they also have a master with a screw on cap, correct? I can't believe how many of those screw cap style brakes I see in the wrecking yards. I always thought it was just hit and miss, never knew the accessory kit was the black one.

BRAKE BOOSTER SHOULD BE BLACK ON A '69 CANADIAN PONTIAC.

I'd say zinc gold plated, same as my 1970's. I thought I had a 69 metering valve from the 69 2+2 I parted out, but I can't find it. I even had the rebuild kit for it.

I'd also say the photos posted by 68sd396rag are correct, even showing the correct metering valve, and B-body bracket holding the metering valve.

The Delco Moraine as pictured should be a gold zinc type finish. The black boosters have a different shape or smooth in comparison to the indents of the Delco Moraine booster. My Parisienne has the black booster with drum brakes and the 2+2 with discs has the Delco Moraine booster. No idea if it is a disc vs drum brake or possibly a production time change.

MIGHT BE THE DRUMS VS. DISCS THING. ALL BLACK BOOSTER 69'S I'VE SEEN HAVE HAD DRUM BRAKES INCLUDING MY LOW MILE 2+2. I HAVE ALWAYS ASSUMED THE ZINC PLATED ONES WERE SERVICE REPLACEMENTS.

Actually guys-delco moraine brake boosters were all zinc plated.

Bendix boosters are painted black.

Trust  me on this as I have rebuilt hundreds of boosters from GM cars-all years.Bendix and Delco are both correct but the Zinc plated ones look much better in my opinion.

Thanks all. I guess when I said gold cad I actually meant yellow zinc... but I really mean "Like the pictures sd396rag posted"!

Is that valve something I should replace or will it last forever?

I will likely buy a new Delco master cylinder. Is there any reason to prefer that I rebuild my original?

there are casting numbers and also stamped numbers on the front of the master used to identify what car etc.. and what the master is for.

re; 69 Camaro disc brake master is a 309 casting number with a US stamped on the front pad to identify that that is the correct application.69 GTO is also a 309 casting but has an EA on the very same front pad.

I can post tomorrow what all the correct casting numbers etc.. should be for your car. The metering valve should also be rebuilt at the same time.Your booster will also have identification and date codes on the top tab of the booster.RE 69 Camaro will have 9204 on the backside of the tab and the front will have a number from 01-365 to denote what day of the year it was produced etc..

All masters on all 69 US pontiacs (firebirds, midsize, full-size, everything) are zinc plated but most Canadian pontiacs seem to have black masters (mine is black and even still has the painted on two letter code. It makes sense that in Canada it could be a disc vs drum thing though. Mine and my friends 69 2+2 are both drum cars.

Re the valve, I can send you the link to the guy who sells the rebuild kit (something like $20), and has the instructions online. Give me until the weekend.
