Pulls at heartstrings a bit but putting this out there seeing if there is any interest in beloved station wagon. Too many cars, too little time, too many winters outside in the rain.
I purchased it 12 years ago from widow. She and her husband purchased it new when they retired. They were snowbirds and pulled a big trailer to Arizona every winter, back up to BC for the summer.
It is by far the most reliable car I have ever owned. It's never let me down and always starts / goes no matter how long it has sat. Body good, I had it painted about 5 years ago, about $5,000 and that with me removing absolutely every bit of trim, locks, handles, bumpers, etc and putting it back on when done.
When I first got it, replaced master cylinder and hoses, did away with hydraulic tap into brake system for trailer brakes, this all for safety. Flushed out with and filled with DOT 5 fluid. Rebuilt carburetor then too, replaced air pump and reconnected EGR valve and all that good stuff so it would pass strict emissions test. Also replaced rusty gas tank.
Bone stock, 0 options, vinyl seats must have been lovely in Arizona..I added an AM FM radio. It has pulled tree stumps out of the yard, hauled building supplies, moved kids out, and in, and out, pulled a car trailer, etc.
I rebuilt the front end - didn't need it but I wanted to try - I installed a Kanter master front end kit. Never had it aligned after, I carefully copied adjustments and put the new parts exactly the same. Steers ok, doesn't return to center well, but doesn't pull.
Last year, got a heater core, front gas shocks, rear air shocks.
*Interior Sad* Too wet for too long. Weather stripping non-existent due to the desert sun. Couldn't find it anywhere. Replaced with some from a car I wrecked, better but still leaks.
Drove it today after about 2 years. Started up but cranky with the old gas. Topped it up with premium, went out on the highway and it smartened up quite nicely.
Immediate needs:
-check overly grabby back brakes
-replace intermittent tail and parking light sockets (rock auto)
-tires? perhaps 5000 miles on 12 year old tires.
Carpets would make a world of difference but I haven't bothered due to leaks and less than ideal storage.

Reads 18382 miles - so between the snow birds and I, 118,382 I should think.

It is powered by a 400 2-barrel, right? As in Cleveland, or I guess it was a 400-M by 1975.
Custom 500 was Canada-only after 1974.
Yes! 400-2. Really encumbured by the emissio controls.

Thank you. . Id really miss it, but not doing it any favours sitting out in the rain all winter .

Takes us back to a time when every other family had one of these in one model form or another, now-a-days they all have crossovers or SUV's. Something very nostalgic about a big wagon like this.
hi - Just a couple of thoughts on ways to market this very original survivor station wagon
1, Advertise it on the Station Wagon forum http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums. I think it is free to join - you might get a lot of exposure stateside - I think Americans are more interested in the station wagon culture.
They also have lower priced gasoline- ( these cars were never known for their fuel economy)
2. Are there any movie production companies in BC that might be interested in a time capsule like this?
Just a word of thanks, and a bump I guess, although my intentions are the former and not the latter.
Appreciate the positive comments and suggestions. I will have a look at the station wagon forum although I am hesitant to look at it as I may end up buying another.
I wont comment / thank anyone again on this thread as it results in a bump and not really fair to CP, especially being a non - CP vehicle. Know though that everyone appreciated.
Many thanks again - all the best.
Robert

I think its well priced, if not too cheap, if it looks as good in person as in the pics.
