If they're anything like the 1970 grilles, and I suspect they are, you need to get a matched pair.

I'd repaint both grilles...

Find plastic appropriate close matching paint in bright argent, grey and dark grey. Buy quality 3M masking tape in wide and thin widths.

Clean the grilles. Fine scotchbright as much as possible. Get into the corners of each eggcrate square...ugh.. Maybe make a square wooden dowel to fit the crates. Form and tape on some fine sandpaper. Wash the grilles with TSP when done. No solvent.

Roughly mask off everything but the silver lines. Paint those first.

Remove only the eggcrate mask.

Carefully mask off the silver lines. Possibly use thin pinstripe for around the lamps. Narrow 3M mask carefully trimmed to width on the horizontal silver lines.

Paint all the eggcrate dark grey.

Re mask the eggcrate and silver lines, removing only the outer grey edge and headlamp surround mask.

Paint those outer grey areas.

Done!

If you take your time & do it right, it will be an impressive sight.

That rhymes, but that isn't the point.

I remember masking a 1965 Impala SS wheelcover. It took a long time. Prep will show in the final product.
