Small block serpentine belt system.
Permalink Closed

Friend is scrapping a mid 90s Blazer with a 4.3. Thinking about getting the serpentine belt system off the front of it. Going to get the alt, water and power steering pumps, air conditioner compressor.

Going to put it in my El Camino that has an '85 350 in it. Eventually I'm adding a/c to the Camino.

Is this swap worth all the effort ? I've got a V-belt system that works great as is.

Seems to me that the only advantage you get with the serpentine  system is a free AC Compressor which may be worth it but you do have to change all the other components to be compatible with the serpentine belt.

Luckily for you you have friend who could use a spare alternator and power steering pump from the V belt system so those won't go to waste either.

Why not take the entire 4.3, plenty of parts interchangeability with the 350. We can pull it Saturday morning.
