Wrecks from the 40s and 50s

I've driven past Flynn's Wrecking Yard near Cooma, New South Wales in most of the last 40 years, on my way to the snow fields. My knees aren't what they were, so this year I took a day off and went back down the mountain for a look around. I paid my ten bucks, got my souvenir sticker, beer mat and postcard and went for a wander. Thousands of cars, mostly Australian, British and European. No Ponchos, unfortunately, and nothing from North America since about 1963. All right hand drive. I took pictures of what there was, which I hope are of interest. Most cars I don't recognise, and have no badges. I'd love to know what I've got, if anyone can identify anything.

I spotted 53-54 Plymouths, 53-54 Fords, 46-48 Fords, 38 Plymouth, 62-63 Dodges, 46-47 Buick's, 53 Chevy. Surprised that i see only one Chevy and no Pontiac's. It amazes how many of these American cars were sold in other parts of the world. Thanks for sharing.

Great pictures

looks like a studebaker truck or ute in picture # 2

there are a few ute s pictured

Apparently the ute inspired the Ranchero and El canimo in North America

 Looks like the grill that was thrown in is a 54 grill but the car could still be a 53. What a crime cutting off that roof on that solid 53/54 Chevy. What would drive someone to do that to that solid car.

Not too many convertibles came down this way George, even less to New Zealand. Cutting the roof off was a quick way to be the coolest kid around. Looks like a never to be finished project though.

The owner seems to know exactly what he's got, so message him on his Facebook page. Google "Flynn's Wrecking Yard" and you'll find it - and several videos and photo galleries on the yard. Good luck.

 53/54 front fenders are different, these are 54. Also front splash pan is 54
