Driveway sealer. Which product is best?

Time to seal the driveway.

Any thoughts on what is best, what to avoid, and how best to apply?

Thanks, Mark

Asphalt or concrete?
Before I put in the concrete sealer I used Canadian Tire Ultimate Sealer. Was ok. Nice matte black finish. Neighbours had driveway guys who go around neighbourhoods and it looks like armour all and doesn't last. I was happy with the crappy tire stuff.
Now with the concrete we used EUCO Diamond Clear TB. Spray thin....or it will go dark with lines.

You spray? What do you use? My driveway needs to be done next year. Got a pile of cracks to fill first though. I figure 4-5 pails to do mine. I saw a guy on Youtube who does it professionally using a squeegee to apply. I appears he put it on pretty thick.

Pump sprayer, good quality not cheap plastic sprayer...for doing concrete, and for asphalt a good quality paint roller and pole. I would roll it one direction first coat and next day opposite direction second coat.

It's an asphalt drive.

Had it done by the driveway Doctor 3 years ago. Big waste of money imop. I'm wondering what a good product would be. The internet is one big advertisement when trying to get info.

I'm looking at a product by Resistoseal, sold at rona. Seems good, but who knows? The last drive I did was with a roller, probably the most economical way to make it cover the most.

Five years ago I applied an asphalt product (McAsphalt) myself with a roller. Applied 2 coats, went through more than a barrel of product and swore I wouldnt do it again myself. Its nasty stuff, wasnt cheap and after 2 to 3 years the driveway looked like it needed to be done again.

Three years ago a neighbour had their asphalt driveway coated with a product from Star-Seal of Minnesota Inc. called Star-Triton asphalt pavement sealer. It looked great after application of two coats and Ive been watching how it has held up over the years. It looks as good as the day it was applied.

So this year I had my driveway done. East-Man Seal Coating Ltd. is the local company that applied it and I couldnt be happier with the result.

www.eastmansealcoating.com is their website and to get information on the product, search Star Triton.

I definitely recommend the product and having it installed by the experts.

Before and after pics.

Dont think it was cloudy. The smoke is coming at us from east and west making it seem like dusk all day long.

Spray-on sealer doesn't work. Roll it on.

Stay away from anything that is latex based. Only use oil based products because they will generally stick better. They cost more but are more compatible with your drive way. There is nothing out there that i know of, that is 100%. You just have to pick the lesser of the evil.

Local asphalt dealer says not to use any of them.

Had mine sprayed, only lasted a couple of years. Drive is over 400 ft long at a cost of $2300. They filled cracks with liquid rubber
