1950 Pontiac Interior

Hello

Well it is time for the interior selection, can anyone verify that the 1950 2 Door Chevrolet Fleetliner is the same as a 1950 2 Door Pontiac Streamliner ?

Thanks

Dale

On my 52 Poncho Torpedo back,[ lost in garage fire] I used a complete Interior kit for Chevy from the US & fit perfect, only thing I found out on later purchase is Glove Box cardboard is NOT interchangeable!!!! Kit was around $1500 USD but had quotes of up to $ 8000+ up here to do it!!! Had local shop install it but alaso had glass & all rubber done so can't break install cost. Pete

Hello Pete

How R U these days ?  good I hope? Thanks for the response, your comments are the same as my conversations that I have had down east.

Canadian Pontiacs are similar to Chevrolets of the same period. So I am looking at Lebaron Bonney has my supplier of the Interior Kit. Lebaron Bonney asked me to verify that the two body styles were identical.

And you are right about the glove box, the good things is,  I have my original one.  My cost maybe a bit more , which includes headliner, carpets, door panels , seats covers and padding , sun visors and arm rests for around $ 4,500 US

A bit High, without rubber , wind lace is included though , so I should  save on the upholstery fabrication and install.

Thanks for your comments

Dale

Steele Rubber should have most if not all your rubber.

*note tail lamp seals are round on the US Pontiac.; Canadian Pontiacs are rectangular (a la Chevrolet). However the balance should be the same but you can cross reference on the Steele site

Before and After , a few pictures

I may have turned a nuts and bolts, but the craftsman ship of the finishers made the final product complete. These four pics were taken just before the car was completed.  Yup your right , should have painted the speaker grills a light color, a job for this winter, maybe.

My wife and I purchased the headliner as a kit, fit like a glove . we had to purchase two carpets, the first was a two piece kit from Texas, it was really sub standard, and believe me, at the point of installing the interior my expectations were really not that high, so when I say the first carpet was sub standard it really was. My Upholsterer would not put it in. PERIOD. The second one piece carpet we purchased from NOS, perfect fit, color and grade of carpet was bang on.
When it comes to the material on the seats, door panels back deck , kickpads and sun visors We select the material with our upholsterer and he made the purchase through his source. The main base material on the seats and door panels are a fine grain corduroy type of material that is made specially for automotive, marine and RV application. If you want to know the brand or denier, I would have to get in touch with him, because I forget ! All of the above pieces he made from scratch, as I mentioned , he is a real Craftsmen , we are very pleased with his work.

I concur with silver streak. The '64 CS carpet I purchased from NOS a few years back fit perfectly as did the complete interior which Dale was still selling at the time. Awesome service and products!
