Interesting part about the engine. I'm assuming it has a 300 horse 327?

I don't quite understand the part about the plant running out of engines but maybe he will see this and elaborate on it.

I was thinking the same thing.

Don't dispute it...but how did the number of 143 Corvette motors become verified to be Corvette motors in a 65 CS?

I assume it has to do with the motor I.D. number which would be different from the regular production motors numbers.

Never heard of this before......don't know how that would work on a assembly line.

Were the motors in sequence?

Would be interesting to hear about this interesting saga of "special" motors and how they came to be.

So McKinnon runs out of engines in St. Catharines and instead of getting them from Tonawanda just across the river or even Flint the call is put into St. Louis where an engine is taken off the Corvette line and sent to Oshawa, Is that about right?

Normally the engines were coming from St. Catherines, but sometimes they came from Flint. In 1965 Flint Michigan was the sole plant building small block Corvette 327s, from 250 through 375 horsepower. Any L-79 engines that I have heard of in '65 Beaumonts or '66 Acadians were also from Flint. So, either 250 or 300-horse Flint 327s could have been sourced for a '65 Pontiac 327 orders, but whether they did for both versions I couldn't say. According to the ad, apparently they did 143 times. The car has a Powerglide, so if it is a "Corvette" engine as he claims, then it will be either an F(mm/dd)HO for a 250-horse L30 or F(mm/dd)HP for a 300-horse L75. If it is just a regular Chevrolet 250-horse is would be an F(mm/dd)HC or an F(mm/dd)HD for the L74 300-horse B-body version. Technically I don't know of any internal differences between the full-size vs. Corvette versions of the L30-L74-L75.

I guess all the externals would not come with the motor and would be stock for the Canadian production items? The "Corvette" block would really only be a good conversation piece?
