Looks like the 58 fuel injection manual that Bill has will suffice. Unfortunately upon looking through all my 58 Literature could not come up with much info on fuel injection. From what I did find however was Canadian 1958 Pontiac's had the tri - power option but not fuel injection. The US models had both. Bob.
From what we have discussed and reviewed in sales brochures and on-line evidence for 1958 the fuel injection was offered and marketed as the Power Chief Fuel Injected V8, a 283 with a power rating of 250 HP. The triple 2bbls were offered on the 348 V8 with a power rating of 280 HP. The sales literature shows it but we have no way of knowing how many were produced.
For 58 Chevy, I found engine suffix codes for 58 pass cars with FI.
CH--250hp(hyd cam)--3sp
CY--250hp(hyd cam)--sp4(probably none built)
EC--250hp(hyd cam)--Turboglide
CJ--283hp(solid cam)--3sp
CZ--283hp(solid cam)--4sp(probably none built)
They were rated at 250 and 290hp so solid lifter was likely the 290hp, from the Pontiac brochure, they mention only 250 hp.
Source says a total of 357 FI built, 0 were 4 speed.
Same source says there were four 4 speeds sold in 58 Chevies.
