Quite solid 65 Buick Special at Pick n Pull
Permalink Closed

I stopped at our local Pick n Pull mid week and they had gotten in a 4 door 65 Buick. Hood and grill were just perfect so I went in today and grabbed the grill and the headlight surrounds. Cant believe how good a shape they are in. About half a dozen tiny tiny pits combined for all pieces. Have to find a Buick lover or else will make a good wall display.

Yeah I think it was a homemade attempt for an improvement. K&N weren't around then yet.

Here's a nice looking 67 for sale for $7,495, lots of pics and at a dealer- he must want to dump it for the winter. It's here near Halifax.

Yes, you are right. It looks pretty good plus would have been so much easier to pop off the grill. I thought about it but my luck with bumper bolts is I would probably get them all but one and no torch.

Grill and headlight bolts came off so easy. Crack them and almost finger loosen them after. Challenge was the 2 lower bolts of the grill still stuck through the rad support a 1/4 when you brought the grill forward as it then hit the bumper.  Luckily I had a pinch bar with me and with a little grunting I was able to press the tin of the rad support back enough to free the bolts. Still a snug fit getting out though and you dont dare give too much pressure any one place with that pot metal. It doesnt bend very good.

The car is one row over from where we got those trim parts for your 64 many years ago. It was a fun couple hours in the sun anyh.

I love doing that stuff, especially on a beautiful day.   Makes me forget about all the other worries in my life.

Right I'm with you.  How did you make out in the Kootenays?  Did he have much left?

I usually snap the carriage bolts off with a breaker bar (on '64 Parisiennes).

At the bottom of the ad it says: "$6995 FIRM"

But the ad also says: "Paint is peeling, poor prep from last paint job Passenger side had damage from something falling against it in storage, priced to reflect that, some rust in inner fender wells and trunk pan beside them."

Without looking at the car in person, it sounds like it will need a complete strip, damage repair and new paint job to make it right. Which is probably why the car is still sitting there, IMHO...  just a guess.
