Ok, heres where start deviating from the factory look with the body. Made the most of my easter long weekend. Final undercoat and layed down the satin black. Hides my poor bodywork skills....
As a custom touch, fitting duel antennas so cut the holes before painting. Wouldnt believe, set out one and took measurements to transfer to other side. Cut it wrong! ACK! Quick weld and repair and restart...

More progress! And more cursing! I reckon the car in a past life had been smacked up the rear. Previous owner had made repairs. RH rear quarter was a 66 and LH 65, was very wavy shall we say. Had terrible time fitting the rear lights and rear cove panel. I think the rear 1/4s have been installed making the rear slightly narrower. To top it off the light bezels and rear cove had been rechromed and the copper underbase and chrome are pretty thick. The cove was also warped from the chroming process. A bit of trimming, pushing, grunting and forcing got everything in reasonably well. The top part of the body between the bootlid and tub was slightly high so had to put packers between the bootlid and hinges to bring the boot up level. With the panel.
got there, looks ok. Duel antennas look good. See a bit of wavy stuff under the lights but once the flamejob is done, wont notice it. Id be looking at around 15grand plus to have someone repair the body, prep and paint. I did it, i like it and i need a new avatar photo!

I'm envious of your cove molding Phil! She's looking good...like a real car now.
And I always like looking at what everybody has in their shop and on the walls. Lots of interesting stuff on your's. Stuff and logos I'll never recognize.

working on the doors. Doing what I can with what I have. One of the internal lower corners was rusted out severely. Cut it out and used a piece from a pillarless door i had. It wasnt too crash hot either but miles better than what I cut out, or rather the bits of rust i cut out..used a bit of rust converter before welding the new section in. Bit of filler and it will be Ok.

Oops. Edit here, we have different terminology over here. My old doors are from a 4 door sports sedan. Is that the correct term? 4 door pillarless...so doors are shorter. Wish I had some spare doors for the vert.

Ok, so the passenger side door is hung.....yes passenger side in my side of the world! Hahaha
I looked at it and thought "why did he post a picture of the driver's door then" before it registered! I guess when you order stuff for your car from North America you have to be real careful and only use "right" and "left"!

Hi Ho all! Havent checked in for a while....still plugging away at the beast. Took a week off to get some work done. Got the first front guard on and fortunately doing a dont care too much paintjob due to lack of funds to get things professionally painted. That front gaurd is a bit iffy looking! Satin black and a flamejob you wont notice. No chrome trim so welding up the holes talk about fiddle. Have a piece of copper pipe which is flattened each end at different angles to hold underneath the hole while welding up.....starting to get the bling out. NOS grills! Try and find some of those! Rechromed headlight bezels...gotta be ready for my sons high school graduation in october! I can do it!

Yes its nice that he said passenger side. I was expecting nearside and offside. As well as terms like boot, bonnet, wings, mudguards and sills! Thanks for catering to us across the world from you. Great job on the car too.
