That's what I thought too, spotted just before Bayview/Bloor cutoff.

While they look nice sadly the MB today doesn't have the reputation of quality that it used to have. I remember a friend of my dad's had one like this:

I was 17 and he let me take it for a drive. It was such a well built car and drove beautifully.

Since I have no interest in foreign cars,

I wouldn't have even given them a second glance if they passed me on the road.

Like most new cars, they all look the same to me. confuse

Im like you George, I wouldnt notice one unless they cut me off or scraped the side of me. I have a very good client whose vacation home I maintain who has had a couple of them in the past 3 years and she insisted I drive it to pick up a gallon of paint. First one that I drove had over 500 horse and it was fun. First time I had been in a car where the side of the seat squeezes against your ribs when you go through a corner to hold you in the middle of the seat. Sort of cool but if I had her money I would have some more old cars instead. A picture of it here with my son ready to take it for a boot.

I do notice them Ray, and some of the bigger Merc's are true supercars. Shame I'll never drive, let alone own one.

I never really cared for the German stuff... that is until I rented a brand new BMW 328i back in 16, for a one week Death Valley/Route 66/Monument valley tour with my late sister. I fell in love with it. Patted it on the trunk when I turned it in. There is something special about them, and you have to spend a bit of time with them to get it. Quirky to start, then it comes clear after days of driving. They really are the ultimate driving machines.

I chose the word in my post carefully, I look at these German cars as beasts and seeing  $500,000 worth in three glances all sub 4 seconds 0-60 is just worthy of respect. Kind of like the German Panzers of WWII, far superior to any Sherman tank we operated but worthy of respect, not dismissal. I'm looking to replace my daily driver Cadillac DTS and these German beasts come up in conversation with friends as do Audis and Jaguars. Cadillac is losing its appeal to me and I must say I am not likely to buy a German beast but might gravitate to the Jaguar, for some reason I like the big ones even though I don't need a big care anymore.

There's an interesting Jaguar for sale here in PEI. A 97 XJR. I knew nothing about them so I did some research. Typically the words "Jaguar" and "Reliable" never go together however it seems this model is an exception. The inline 6 had been refined quite a bit up to this point and it features forged rods and crank, heavy duty block etc. The XJR has an Eaton supercharger giving it 340hp. This one is from BC and looks quite solid. Price is $6900. New they were 100k here in Canada.  The rear end looks like an old Crown Vic though.

I have an E63 benz and it is a lot of fun, its AWD so I drive it year round with ease. 75,000km on it and not one single issue, I have humiliated many new mustangs and camaros with it. That being said I still like to drive the old girls much much more. But as a daily driver, you cant get much better than a big bad merc.

A V8 Panamera would be considered as well. Top of my youngest daughters list with big Jag.

Your words resonate with me, I like to flog the old big block around too, but nothing beats a proper luxury automobile for daily use commuting to wok and running around. I just love heated lumbar supporting massaging seats and heated steering wheels especially at my age.

I think if I were sporting deep pockets and wanted a luxury sedan (import)I'd buy a Lexus.

I'm kinda liking the AMG 6.3 wagon. It seems to do everything well, but damn, for a price!
