The higher hp 327s had a carter afb, my 59 had a 4gc and i had lots or arguments with it. I went to a quick fuel on it, that worked perfect after I detuned it for the 283, it was a 600 Cfm. It is a Holley knockoff, very well built.

You need a leather accelerator pump whatever you get, I got a carter afb for my 409. It has worked great. The Edelbrock is a copy of the afb, just not as well made imho.

one thing if you switch carbs is most replacements have a larger opening and you need an adapter to use the original air cleaner or else a replacement base  for the larger opening, sold by Show Cars.

ran one for years on a 350 horse, only problem I had it would run out of poop at the top end. I think its only a 475 cfm, I also stole some bigger jets out of a 2Cg, I also ran a 409 rodchester on a 327 , had to jet it down, snappy throttle response because of its size and great fuel mileage.

Show cars sells both the replacement base and the adapter, adapter cheaper and you may get it local or make one.
