Interesting read, he certainly takes things to the extreme. Is Rust Valley the name of a series? I haven't heard of it.

Watched the show ... pretty wacky! Realistic in some instances, cartoony in others.

Mike Hall isn't shy, that's for sure.

There might be a '63 Parisienne resto in a future show.

I watched the show, pretty out there. Decent production quality, but pretty wacky.

Is it another one of these waste-of-time reality tv car shows, or is this one different? I've tried some of those other shows and I couldn't be bothered. I'm not just being negative but some of those shows.....man......do they think we are all idiots?

Totally agree Carl. I have yet to see any of these "reality" car shows that doesn't feature  shameless shills for products. egotistical a-holes or testosterone overdosed boneheads.  They give anybody in the actual realistic hobby the creeps and yes make us look like idiots.

I kept thinking about his dreadlocks catching on fire when he was priming the carb in that Dodge Dart

Watched the first episode;a little staged but good intentions. He has invested some money in his shop so lets hope a Canadian restoration car show can have a good run on the very competive History channel. It will show some made in Canada cars to say the least.

Watching reality TV car shows......is no different....that watching wrestling......

Entertaining......but totally scripted fantasy...

If you have ANY concept....of how long it takes to actually "restore" a car........and can do math......They are an insult...to your intelligence.....

However......It IS done in Canada....and I will continue to follow it......and try to enjoy it...without thinking......(much)...    wink

Just watched the show, and found it entertaining.  I will watch it again.

I think with car restoration shows in general, you can't get too caught up with everything being 'right'.  If it's not entertaining nobody will watch it.  Only the most hard core car guys would watch a show that meticulously followed a nut-and-bolt project in real time - the interest is usually held in doing them, not watching them.  So, when I watch a show like this, I want my instant gratification - I want to see a finished product at the end of the show, so there has to be a lot of editing and storytelling to get you from start to finish in 1 hour.  I want to watch the show, be entertained, and move on with my life when it's over.

As a car guy you can pick out details to criticize all day long.  Like that Swinger that they insisted was a '70 and not a '71 sure enough had the '71 rear bumper on it with 4 taillights... but so what.  He put something together, sold it, and made somebody happy.  It's all good in the end.

I'm happy that there's a Canadian show on the networks, with Canadian cars that they will surely be doing, the characters seem interesting, and I had a few laughs out of it, like when they were grabbing the back seat out of the Duster with rat/mouse crap all over the floor.  Most of us can relate to that I'm sure.  It's what you have to deal with when you are working on 50 year old cars.

So, I give it a passing grade.  The characters are certainly better than most of those annoying American shows with the over the top guys trying too hard to be cool and bad-ass.  Plus, this show seems to have some heart, like the Lincoln that they did up for the guy who is now in a wheel chair from a skiing accident.  You can see that they really wanted him to be happy with it.

Another plus is that it is being filmed in a gorgeous part of BC - you get those nice eye-candy scenic shots combined with a yard full of old cars... what's not to like? smile

So I just watched the episode with the Dart and the Lincoln. I have to say, still a cheesy car show but head and shoulders above any others I've seen.

Watched it because it is Canadian.
Buddy needs a haircut. I had long hair too, but c'mon.....grow up.
It's your typical car show, drama and deadlines.
Also, why is it on ALL these shows, the idiots have to do these circular burnouts?....It proves nothing and is stupid.

The thing I think puts it above the other shows is the guys aren't pretending to have all the "fights". I got tired of that sissy teenage girl type drama on the other shows. If I want to see people yell at each other on TV I can watch just about any other show on TV. This one may have some drama but although the son doesn't like his dads decisions he has a smile on his face when he talks about it.

X2, all the male drama has always ruined these automotive shows for me too. It all smells so fake and needless to me. "Male Drama" is what my lady calls it and she was the one that first pointed it out to me a number of years ago. I just want to see the cars and know about the cars that's all.

I finally watched it last evening and enjoyed it. It will be interesting to see what else comes on. Pricing seems to be realistic and he sounded like he tried to stay reasonable.
