I agree, quit sending our money to Saudi, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, Nigeria, etc where they kill people for fun and pollute at will. My furnace oil fill October 31 was about the most expensive Ive ever had.

None of the oil Co. want to invest in refinery's in the great white north, so majority of our oil goes south to be refined then we buy buy it back?? discussion on news said the BILLIONS to build one wasn't worth the time line of 10 years to start production & see a return on investment. I think we only have 2 or 3 on main land [ that are really old] & 1 in "Newfie" ?????

When I moved to PEI our house had a new oil furnace. The first fill up was brutal. It was $1.30 liter for oil. I said "Frig that" and installed a high efficiency heat pump and a wood stove. I pay about $100 a month to heat this 1600 sq foot farmhouse. The woodstove is really for backup. I don't even use a cord of wood per season. I bought 6 cord from a neighbor the first year we were here and I think I still have half of it. I usually use wood from trees that fell in the woods around my place. As for gasoline it would be great if the govt would offer grants or low interest long term loans for solar panel installations with enough capacity to power a house and charge an electric car. Imagine that? No extra load on the grid and less dependence on foreign oil. While the cost of solar is going down it's still out of reach for many people (like me). A friend of mine did well selling his house to the Monks here in PEI (They usually pay about 2.5 times market value if they want your property) and used the proceeds to buy another house and outfit it with solar panels. He is buying a Volkswagen E-Golf next year and will be free of using the gas pumps.
I dont think come by chance is allowed to sell refined products in Canada, other than in Nfld. We get ours out and of Montreal or Saint John of the USA.

I think you're right, pretty sure other than what's sold here is shipped to the New England States. I guess K.C. Irving wouldn't allow any competition in the Maritimes, lol.
