1957 Chevrolet

Here are some pics of the 57 Chevrolet I did up last winter. This car is also for sale. I am going to need $35k Lots of new stuff on this one. I did this one in the old school hot rod style. Started with a decent California car.

Very nice 210. Curious about the bumpers, are they rechromed? If they are, what did it cost and by who?

Nice job..she looks killer! California car with a 1 piece front bumper? Must have stole it from a Canadian car.wink  Luv the black cluster...is that scripting by the turn/gen/oil Indicator? I see double bumps but by the look of alt/water pump ,later block. Did you drill for the front mounts??

Very tasteful custom! Just the way I would mod a car. Love it.

All the bumpers and chrome replacement parts are from Danchuck . Motor is a 72 350 4 bolt main 30 over with steel crank, aftermarket rods, forged 11-1 pistons etc.etc. Heads are 65 Corvette 202/160. No accessory holes. No scripting on dash cluster just shine. Everything inside this car is fresh, upholstery, headliner, glass, wire harness etc.

While I can't speak to 57 bumpers I had researched 53 Chev bumpers.
Most American 53s have 3 piece bumpers. However California and Canadian cars have a single piece bumper which are favorites of hot rodders for the smooth look. One piece units are often referred to as California bumpers.

Same applies to 57 Chevy's.    I think California had a rule that it had to be 1 piece.  The 1957 Chevy 1 piece bumper is also lighter than the 3 piece version.

Very nice!

One question: I noticed your car has the spare tire recess covered over.  I looked online for some photos and saw some seem to have it and some don't.  Any ideas on that?  Was it an option?

I have never seen one with the spare tire well blocked off. I made a panel for the one I have to give the trunk a smooth, cleaner look.

That goes along with what I remember of the cars, but then when I did a google image search I found a couple that showed them blocked off.  The pic I posted above came from this article linked below, which said that was how they found it, so I assumed original?

Unless the car in the article had previously had an aftermarket trunk pan installed...
