Go for it Carl, its probably better than it looks. A 396 wagon and a 427 2 door post.

No room I'm afraid, but I will admit to staring at the pictures of this car for a long time and dreaming of doing it.... I have enough cool 66 spare parts for it too, factory tach, 4 speed shifter, I know of a manual trans conversion for it, etc etc.
But alas, my life situation is such that from here on, a second classic car will never be more than a dream.

What? No link? I may be interested in that manual trans conversion you have! Since I offed that one to you, I have been searching for another kit for a project...
It was on Facebook and I'm not enough of a geek to figure out how to post the link!
I don't actually have the conversion, I just know of the conversion sitting in my favourite wrecking yard.
If you ever come this direction, allow yourself an extra day or two and I'll send you to that yard in Minnesota. I can guarantee you would love it there! Lots of B body stuff.
He even has a couple of 66 Pontiacs with air. A 4 speed A/C wagon would sure be cool...

Hmmm... I've got it! Convert your Strato Chief back to 3-on-the-tree, sell it to me, then use the funds and your parts stash as well as the 4-speed parts now on the Strato to do up this wagon!
I know I know... not going to happen... I was just trying to think "outside the box"...
I think rather sell the Trans Am convertible I gave to my wife for our 25th anninversary, buy the wagon and do the 4 speed A/C conversion and have TWO big block 4 speed 66's...
The plan was all good until I said sell my wife's car......

Neat car, has the very rare air cleaner with the stove pipe to the exhaust manifold.

I would like to find one of those set ups for the air cleaner.

You are correct... I also forgot Ratched! (lol) They are all rare to be still kicking around after 50+ years.... And in all seriousness, the only option is the mill and being stuck, that is questionable... it looks to be a donor only... I bet with the condition of the upper area of the car, the bottom side will be far, far worse.... sadly. Should ask for a pic of the data tag...

Can you elaborate why this type of air cleaner is rare? My 68 has a similar type of air cleaner, but the stove pipe goes down on the passenger side to the exhaust manifold, or at least it did when the stock intake was on the car.
For the most part that style is non existent on 66's. As you know I've parted out a few over the years and I'd never seen or heard of one until they showed up the odd time on this forum. I think it must be one of the first ever air cleaners of that style.

Holy moly that is one mouse infested rust bucket! Probably best off as a doner really.
As for the stove pipe aircleaner I don't have that on my early production 396 in the Grande but it is in another 396 Parisienne Hardtop I picked up a few of years ago.
The only difference I could figure is that the Parisienne is a June 66 production car making it very late so my assumption was that that was a running change.
It would be great indeed to get a shot of the cowl tag to confirm the production date and maybe reinforce my assumption.
In fact the cowl tag looks like it might be the most valuable thing on the car aside from the drivetrain!
Looked good on the passenger side,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, wonder what the driver side was next to? I saw one once in the woods, 2 or 3 ft deep with raccoon or porcupine shiiiit. They came in the trunk and out the grill and vice versa. That one would have a really bad odor.

Carl is this air cleaner with the pipe shown in the 66 assembly manual?
