Sometimes price difference between Canada and the U.S. just isn't even reasonable.

I was going to do a little furniture cleaning and some scratch cover-up with

the Old English brand furniture cover-up. So I was looking on line to see who had the product.

Surprise,surprise.....Walmart has it. That's the good news, the bad news is it's a lot more than what I want to pay for it.

This is pure gouging........do these retailers think we have lots of money to burn, or just are plain stupid?

Or maybe the cost of bringing it into Canada plus taxes, duties, ect.......makes it that expensive?

Walmart U.S. price in U.S. dollars........$6.98  (equals $9.28 Canadian)

Same product being sold in Walmart Canada (and this is the sale price)

It's times like this that I miss being in Windsor and able to do cross border shopping over in Detroit.

Wow. Hard to justify that difference.....

On the flip side, I ordered all my 427 rebuild parts a while back. I am basically doing everything new, just using my stock block, crank, rods an bare cylinder heads. Almost all my valvetrain components were cheaper for me to buy the same brand and part number in Canada. Yes, I get a discount because of my parts job but with most of the valvetrain stuff I can resell it to any customer cheaper than they can buy the same thing from places like Summit. I was surprised.

Amazon...still a gouge, but $17 shipped is better than $45

I did a little more on-line shopping and I found a different brand (also good)

but far more reasonable.......$8.37 Canadian.

you had better drink that beer fast as it won't last, all natural ingredients. LOL.

On the same note, I just bought a cheap car to commute to work, 2003 corolla.

Need a spiral cable for the airbag system. 500 from dealer retail. 325 My cost as I work there.

13.97 ebay for same part coming from china, with free shipping. yes I like to shop locally, BUT

this is a little crazy, even could have got one from the US, but shipping was 45. so can wait the 1 month to get from china.

last piece I got from there was same as original. Then I can have another 150 beer for same price, LOL.

Sometime patience and waiting can save you some money, I buy just like you do.

Like you I ordered a thermostat for $2.50 for my daughters small Kenmore beer fridge, knowing it would take 4-6 weeks to get it from Hong Kong.

It included free shipping. I ordered two. It arrived 6 weeks later,I installed it in 15 minutes, the fridge works great. My son's beer fridge

broke,I gave him the other thermostat I ordered. It too works great. Now I have cold beer at both my son's and daughters house waiting for me.

As for the natural ingredients beer not lasting......I bought three 36 can boxes of beer (98 beers) from Minhas brewery here in Calgary last August for 50 cents a can( $18.00 for a box of 36)

It was beer they were clearing out of their warehouse (Boxer, Mountain Crest, and some other odd brands they sell) I still have about 24 left...not a bad one in the bunch.

Apparently shelf life for beer is 4 months. I make a point of making sure none of it will be around that long.
