1965 foam seals around door release and window crank splined posts?

Wondering if they go in front of the door metal or behind it thanks?

Here's a pic of a door release but it's not mine, I have none of these seals installed.

Ryan
Here is a picture of the door I took apart yesterday. The skinny foam goes against the mechanism behind the paper shield. I have added a before picture also with the shield on, hope this helps.

Thanks Lawrence, that watershield is interesting with the vertical blue lines.
I see it has the gaffers tape present too.

B body door release is mounted from inside the door though, so the foam seal may be inside too although  the window winder would have to go outside and probably the vent winder with the large opening on the back.

Looking at all of them, it makes the most sense they'd all go on the outside under the watershield so that's what I'll do.

It took a bit of patience to remove it without damaging it, but I succeeded. One less part to replace.

Should I check my 66? It's a pretty safe bet it hasn't been apart. I would assume it would be assembled the same as 65.

On my 65, first time door panel trim off, door, I see a seal behind the seal paper on the door handle only. No seals on the window cranks though.

Thanks Carl, but I wouldn't recommend removing your door panel since the nails are tough to pull out of the retainers.

Ok so no seal on the side glass and vent glass cranks then.

I have 8 bought from Inline Tube, so lots of extras.
