Time for my annual tour of the big city at Christmas, The White's go all in and we really enjoy the city lights and shows and adventures of Christmas.
This year's tour is a tale of two cities, the largest respective cities in America and Canada, New York and Toronto. It all starts November 30th with an afternoon flight from YYZ to LGA, Toronto Pearson to New York LaGuardia, a quick 45 minute up and down.
Hope you enjoy Christmas in the City 2018
Checked into our boutique hotel, The Shoreham at 55th Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
Our neighbourhood hotels were a little more famous and decked out:
Went for a late dinner at Sardi's and when in Manhattan better have a Manhattan.
Took a walk past Times Square:
Headed over to 5th Avenue to see the bright lights. Saks was lit.
....and so was Rockefeller Centre
They had a really nice plaza....
and a very nice tree
Next morning we walked over to central park for breakfast and past a few landmarks on the way:
and Carnegie Hall
all
Central park arch
A view of the Park Plaza from the park
Wollman ice rink
Walked up to the Met
Out for dinner before the ballet, keeping the Manhattan thing going...
Off to Lincoln Centre for the Nutcracker
Rode the subway Sunday morning
Paid our respects at the 9/11 Memorial
Took in Grand Central Station
The New York City Library
Bryant Park Hotel ....I ain't afraid of no ghosts!
Bloomingdale's and Macey's
And I wouldn't be a good ole Canadian boy without sniffing out the local rink, Madison Square Gardens
The Jets beat the Rangers !
Radio City is amazing
and so are the Rockettes
Trump tower was close to our hotel on 5th Avenue
Tiffany's, Louis Vuitton, Cartier...
Better include the Chrysler building before heading back to TO
All good things come to an end so back at home the fun continues
Toronto Eaton Centre Tree
The lobby of the Royal York Hotel
BCE Place
CN Tower and CBC
Distillery Christmas Market
Hudson Bay Flagship Store at Queen and Yonge
Went to Symphony with Canadian crooner Matt Dusk
And let's not forget Santa Parade
and we have our own tree at City hall too..
I never miss the Christmas buffet at the Donalda Club
and we always make sure to make our house look bright
There are still a few days to go so the Christmas tour may not be over yet.
We go to see the Messiah matinee Saturday then looking forward to Bob Cole calling the Leafs and Rangers on HNIC.
Its been a pretty good Christmas season so far.

So I did go to the matinee of the Messiah, what a treat, in the classic Romanesque St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (1876) right opposite Roy Thompson Hall.
