Thanks Mark. Love the '66 Toronados ... '67 is even better.

Here's a different one: http://www.worldsfaircommunity.org/topic/10394-oldsmobile-toronado-x-70/

Those Toros always appealed to me but I guess a guy can't own 1 of everything.

I never knew the Toronado's had front torsion bar suspensions. You learn something every day.

What is even more surprising is that the Riviera & Toronado were based on the same design, yet the Olds had FWD & the Riviera RWD. GM was so cool back in the sixties.

That reminds me, the last of the Rivieras in 1998 shared the same basic floorpan & design with the Oldsmobile Aurora 4-door. Both were FWD. The Riv used a supercharged 3800 V6 while the Olds used a detuned Cadillac Northstar V8.

Back in the day I used to have a '66 Toronado Corgi Toy. The headlights could be rotated into the up or down position. I remember most of them being dark blue, as was mine. They also did them in a reddish bronze that is less common.

I think it's interesting that the design was in development since the late 50's. It took the best of GM engineering some time to have this design see production. They must have learned a heck of a lot during that time period.

Yes, it is a milestone car.
