66 Grande Parisienne, anyone know this car?

Poking around online and I found this picture. Does anyone happen to know anything about this car? It looks absolutely gorgeous, wow....

No I don't but what a beautiful colour combo.  Really gives it some dignity. Even the vinyl top adds to it as much as I'm leery of those.

It looks just perfect.

And looks like it has tilt wheel to boot.

I can't quit staring at the picture.

This is likely a BC car. The random picture I found of it has a link to a Flickr account which is full of car pics and most of the cars with plates in the account show BC plates.

It has one flaw, one thing that is incorrect as far as originality, that likely only 66 Grande Parisienne owners will spot.

Anyone see what it is?

Don't own one but I felt something looked off the first time I saw the picture. But until you posed the question, I wouldn't have known what it was unless I began comparing images.

The fender emblem! Parisienne is way forward, and maybe even the Grande is slightly...

You got it Mark.

To me that says the fender(s) must have been changed and someone didn't know where to drill the holes.

Regardless, I wouldn't hang my head if this was my car.

Man, I'd sure love to know the story on it. Someone HAS to know this car.

Someone on here must have encountered this car in their travels. It's too striking not to be noticed.

This isn't widely known but in 1966 only the cars of this model that were destined for Quebec had the word Grande. The rest of the country got cars that had the English version; Grand.

That is a gorgeous example of a gorgeous car.

Compare it to the picture from the 1966 GM Canada promotional album that somebody posted samples of here in 2015.

Look at that, the emblem is in the same spot! I wonder if this is the actual promo car...? Because if you look, those emblems are not in the "production spot" for sure.

And when I bought this car in July 1981, it had original paint so I KNOW these are in the right spot.

The teal 66 promo car's "Parisienne" appears to be placed starting directly under the "a" of grande. The dark blue car in the post is more or less under the 'r". The script on the black car is different again, agreeing with the factory paint job BB car. And just to be difficult, I'll put up an illustration from a 66 promo which more or less agrees with the OP car. The teal promo's Parisienne script is not the same as production. Looks taller, same as the red?

Maybe depending on the day of the week or the month of production, the positioning might have moved around a little?

I bet the taller style "Grande" is an airbrush version or something.

Interesting all this. I don't recall seeing this second placement before. I'm going to look at more pics.

And that's what I always thought they all had. The "G" has a good lean on it and the "Parisienne" starts under the ""D".

And a neat bit of trivia, my old 4 speed car that was the feature car recently has a birthday today, same day as my wife, only she's got a couple of years on it!
