Started my own 64 wagon today...

with The bitter cold crappy weather, I finally decided to wand out to the shop and start working on this wagon I have had since September.  I have built model cars for years but never a resin. Recently a friend asked me to do a resin of his Vega wagon. I did and wasnt so bad.  So I decided its time to get going on some of my resins.  I started with this 63 Bonneville Safari and a 64 promo. Some sawing, grinding, gluing, and lots of sanding and filing and sanding and filling and more sanding... I got me a 64 Safari.

Impressive! And looks like a bunch of fun. Never did anything to this level, but I do miss building models.

Keep us up to date with progress reports.

Very nice job. Did you have any issues with bonding the plastic front end to the resin body of the Bonneville wagon?

I miss model building too. What type of saw or knife did you use to cut the plastic and resin?

Thanks guys, I used the 5 min. epoxy you can see the car resting on in one of the pics. I also used it to glue on the small strip of plastic to add the body line the 63 does not have. i used 2 stage spot putty to create the rear fender extensions for the wagon.

Looks like a great start to  both your projects. I like building models but as I got older find it hard to finish a project. I start them with guns a blazing then the project stalls and back in the box it goes. Loads of half done projects it there box's.

I decided this winter to get away from some working on the real cars and dig into the boxes of models and resins I have had on the top shelf for years.

This was a new acquisition of the re-released 1/18 Chrysler boat... I copied the one we had as a kid we used to pull with our caprice...

This is a 1:18 die-cast cab I converted to look just like my first car...

It's a good forum.  The only downside is that threads die after a week or so as they don't recirculate back to the top like they do here.  And... if you make a mistake you can't edit later.

But, good content, and good contributors.  A good way to get your model building fix when you don't have time to build anything (DAMHIK...).
