If it was up to me it would be upper teens in here but my wife's health issues have forced me to adjust. I'm often shirtless around home, even in the middle of winter when the house seems cooler in spite of the furnace being on.

That will freeze the balls off a billiard table!

We keep our house heated at around 18.5 - 19 C. Living in 150+ year old farmhouse, if we get a bad windchill from the south our house can drop 4 C in no time.

I have a generator and heater as well as a propane heater. I should at least be able to keep the frost out if need be. One thing about Manitoba Hydro, it's likely the most reliable hydro supplier in North America it seems when I talk to other people about power outages. It's extremely rare for us to be out of power.

Carl, stopped over in WPG on Saturday after business trip to Toronto - this to see ailing step father in Gimli. Stopped by my late mothers favourite restaurant on Lake Winnipeg. Toronto balmy compared to MB. Heat in rental car (KIA SUV) on full blast from airport and I was just comfortably warm as I reached Gimli. Walked out on the dock and lake - people in restaurant watching, must have thought I was nuts. Froze thumb of ungloved hand taking photos. Still, love the MB interlake.

Flew out Saturday night stopping over in Calgary before home to Vancouver. Pilot remarked that there was a 40 degree temperature change between Winnipeg (-30) to Calgary (+11) with Chinook winds.

BRRRRRR.

All the best everyone. Keep warm.

Robert

Tires were frozen, rough first couple miles.

Not the warmest night in Manitoba

I know you won't believe me, nobody ever does, but I still wouldn't trade you! I love the variety here. I can't imagine living anywhere else. I've been going for walks in the -50 windchills. It's easy to keep warm when you're walking. I love the fresh air, the crunch of snow under my boots and it's amazing how different vehicles and machinery sound in that cold air. And the sound of the train is amazing...

Bring it on, not the coldest weather, I've been in Moosejaw SK in the 90s at -50 without windshield, I parked the car, went in the house for 15 minutes, came back out and she wouldn't start.

I would believe you... Bad memories for me are waiting for the bus on Portage Ave. But then, Christmas at my mother's farm in Teulon... Fire crackling away, slight smell of pine from tree, bit of smoke, and of course coffee perking. CJOB playing Christmas carols on a 40's console radio that I had done up for her - lit up like a Wurlitzer. Cats on lap, dogs snoring. Out they'd go for a run, bounding along in the snow...  All gone now

Hope I'll be back some day and will try to recreate. "Winnipeg Coffee" with me in the Interlake some day?

First time I plugged my truck in and first time it would not start. That wonderful GM thermo style block heater faulty !  Does not work . Had to wait until, temperature got to low 30's before it would turn over fast enough .
