If the chrome strip was attached with a double sided foam tape, it can be a little hard to remove.
I've got a power tool with a soft rubber wheel that works pretty good. The rubber is similar to that used in an eraser. It wears down pretty quickly and it's soft enough that it doesn't harm the paint. You can get a smaller version of that rubber wheel that fits a regular drill.

If you just have the residue from the glue, varsol or something like it will work but it doesn't work all that great.
There is a product made specifically to remove the glue residue and it works a lot better.
I can't remember what it's called,,, I just call it decal remover.
I got my stuff from a place that does vinyl wraps and decals on trucks and trailers etc. but I'm sure any body shop supply place would have it.
If you don't have much to do, the varsol will probably be fine but if you find it's not working for you, try and find some of that decal remover.

Have you seen those glue removing wheels? You put them in a drill? They feel/look like a big eraser. We use them at work.

no can't say I have Carl but the pencil eraser depending on how sticky the glue is I can see working..a eraser on a wheel only fear I would have is it don't take much to burn through the clear coats they use now..

We use them on the newest vehicles, no problem but you are right, you need to just make sure you don't get things too hot.

I think they call it an eraser wheel but I'm not positive.

We haven't used the tooth style but otherwise that's what I'm talking about, and I'm sure that one will be fine.

Or if you know anyone at a body shop ask for some M600. Keep soaking it and it will come off. It'll turn that glue/adheasive to dog snot. Maybe use a plastic bondo spreader do scrape it off the door. The eraser wheel works great but like it was mentioned, be careful not to get the panel too hot. Just keep it moving while the eraser does the work.

I use 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, their part # 08984. Has always worked wonders for me.

Any kind of eraser tool and you risk permanent scarring . Believe it or not your thumbs are your best ally here..and elbow grease.Go to a body shop supply place and get some wax and grease remover..it's mild and very quick to evaporate oh and a roll of shop towels..the blue ones. Rub the bulk off and use up your roll of shop towels cleaning up with the wax and grease remover. Solvents like xylene etc from the hardware store don't cut the mustard here. Laquer thinner (fast only) can be used for cleanup but you must be careful and quick...A fast reducer also works but care is needed here as well. Mind your skin as you can't really wear gloves for this and watch the fumes!!
