Man I hope this is over for you guys soon. It sounds like it's dangerous and going to be very costly as well.
Ya, stay safe.
You might have to get used to it as it might be the new norm from now on. The weather for years now has been totally screwed!

As Darryl said, it may no longer be a cycle... it might be how it's going to be from now on. Fires in the summer, snow in the winter.
For all the good-hearted jabs that happen in these discussions, I sincerely feel for you guys with your mountainous terrain. I drove some of those roads a few summers ago and couldn't imagine how bad it would be if it were glare ice.
Not being used to regular winter conditions makes it that much worse. Especially when dealing with "the other guy" who may have crap tires and no winter driving skills whatsoever.
Take care all.
Out east we are getting a nice blustery snowstorm as I type this. But we get this stuff all the time, so it's no biggie. And, we have some good hills where I am, but not mountains. This winter has been strange because every storm we've had so far has gone through the snow-rain-deep freeze cycle, so we've ended up with a lot of ice accumulation but not all that much snow. A few people that I know have fallen on the ice and broken bones, so that aspect has been way worse this year compared to previous years.
The last couple of storms I didn't shovel my (gravel) driveway as it would have just been a skating rink, so I left a crunchy layer of snow on top for traction. Of course later on we got some rain storms which took the snow off and left a skating rink anyhow, so out came the rock salt... I've gone through quite a few bags of salt this winter. No wells around me so I don't have to worry about contamination...
Snow day for me as well. It's coming down pretty good now. As Mark said it's been a weird winter. Too much ice! The last 4-5 days with 65kmh + winds was a little weird too. I heard the next 5 years are going to be the hottest on record. We came here in 2013 and the summers were really pleasant for the first 2 years. Then they got really hot/humid like Ontario. Not a fan of that!
funny thing is , I was testing new fire fighter air tanks for 5 days in this, sales man from Texas thought we were nuts, all of us were rolling up hoses and gear in tee shirts because of the heat in the burn cans, told him its worse when its around 50 below, the look on his face was priceless .
