Interesting morning with Shelby racing legend from the 60s

I joined a good friend of mine yesterday to visit Allen Grant and tour his shop here in the desert. For you not familiar with him he was a key part of the Shelby racing team in the mid sixties. For a nice interview with him just google up Jay Lennos garage Lola( a very rare car and very advanced for that time). We saw that car and a recreation of his winning Cobra car. Just a super nice guy and a treat to visit with.

I saw that interview with Allen Grant on Leno's Garage. Amazing story, and even better foresight by him of what that car was.

So Allen has offered me a job down there. He has bought around 60 lots in a subdivision and needs someone to help build them! Told him maybe one! Think my house building days are over except if my kids need me. Prefer garages and shops now. Whole lot quicker and simpler.

A car guys dream Jmont!

Allen is certainly one of the most humble guys on the planet.

His story telling is the best and I'm certain he hasn't thrown a toothpick out. That building is filled with all of his personal stuff that isn't at his house......amazing.

Having George Lucas of Star Wars fame as your mechanic.......rock star status.

Connection here is my friend Randy lives a couple minutes from me at home and we do wings each week. He has an original Shelby Mustang, think the serial number is 36. Also he makes a good part of his living building and selling rack and pinion replacement steering set ups for 65-70 Mustangs. So there was lots to talk about.
