What did we ever do without forums ?

I have put my one project aside for a while and started another.

My 88 Cougar XR-7, that I have owned from new, needs a heater core.

So, off to,

https://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/index.php? and

http://www.coolcats.net/help/heatercore.html

The problem is that the dash disassembly is massive in order to wedge the old core out and then wrestle the new one in.

Then you see this novel idea,

Heater core removal.JPG

By cutting an access panel in the fire wall, the core slides right out.

Lazy, yes but,

Laziness is the mother of all inventions biggrin

Good idea for a driver, as long as you seal it up again. Wouldn't want to do it to your restored collector car.

If you read on about this,

The correct way also involves disassembly of the AC lines.

I had my car AC freshly recharged last summer so that becomes a factor.

The short cut does not disturb the AC system.

Good idea you would think that all manufactures would have designed a removable panel like that For servicing the heater core instead of removing half the dash On most cars.

To a very appreciative long time member there.

He makes a donation to the site sends, Shipping and $ 50 U.S.

One of the best thing's about the internet is being able to look up fixes for all of our gadgets and gizmo's. My wife's beloved Kitchenaid mixer stopped mixing a couple of weeks ago. This is also a tragedy for me as no mixer means no homemade bread, pizza, cake etc.cry

Anyway, I found a fantastic Youtube video on the proper way to disassemble the mixer. Found the nylon gear stripped (this gear would be the "shear pin" of the mixer). Ordered a replacement on Amazon for $21 shipped and now we have homemade bread, pizza, cake etc. smile

As I slug away at my car, I go back to the Cougar/Thunderbird forum for a few helper points from the members

 and.....

Attention All:

We've taken the board down in preparation for the new board software. As of 2/20/19 it should take less than 48 hours. We appreciate your patience during this time.

Just FYI, when the new board is back up and running, you will need to reset your password. This is due to the different password security that the new board uses. Your screen name will stay the same. We believe all of your PM's will transfer over as well. Basically it will work the same as before, once you reset your password (and you can make it the same one you're using now, BTW).

Fingers crossed!

48 hours were up 48 hours ago !

Oh well,

Keep up the good work Todd !!!
