1990 Grand Prix Intercooled V6 Turbo. Was this sold in Canada?

I often watch Motorweek's "Retro Reviews". I found this one of the 1990 Grand Prix with a turbo V6. I have no memory of it being sold in Canada? Was it? Pretty pricey back then- 25 grand US. It's not a bad car in a 90's retro front wheel drive kind of way. Check out all the buttons on the dash. Fairly quick for such a car too.

I'm not sure and I can't remember. I was just digging through some old brochures and I found  the 1991 Pontiac full-line brochure (Canadian) that shows the GTP was available, but that year the turbo was replaced with a 4-cam 3.4 liter V6. I'll keep digging when I get a chance, but first I have to dig out of this all-day snow.

Thanks. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't remember this car.

Well looky here- an 89 Turbo GP (an ASC version with under 5000 miles) in Ontario. US car though so still no idea if they were sold here.

I said I would check, and a year later I am updating. aww

I found that I had a 1989 Grand Prix Owner's Manual (Canadian edition). They list only 2 engines, the 2.8 V6 (W-code) & the mid-year replacement, the enlarged version, the 3.1 V6 (T-code). No mention of the turbo'd version. That is understandable because they only produced 749 turbocharged GPs that year.   The ASC/ McLaren GP was limited production like the 1991 GMC Syclone (which was not sold in Canada).

As I said earlier, the naturally aspirated GTP was offered in '90, around the same time that Chevrolet introduced the Lumina Z34 (both had 4-cam 3.4 V6s). Both those cars were sold here in Canada.

Agreed, I always thought the styling on those was a home run.

these are on the same short list as Cyclones and Typhoons, as being only sold in the USA.
There was one at the local Pontiac S&S a couple years back which had been recently imported;

If my memory serves me these were available both in two door, and four door;
I think they were offered in some different ways, but always required the automatic.

I remember back in the 80's when Pontiac started putting radio control on the steering wheel. Now everybody is doing it 25~35 years later.
