427 Conversion

I suspect there are many others on here who love searching out parts for their old cars when they do conversions, upgrades, whatever.

I am almost done my 427 conversion and am making an effort to keep it looking very "1966" as much as possible, but I'm still on a budget (part time worker, you know....)

Anyway, last week I was on a quest for a GM fan belt. I bought a jobber belt to put on so the engine could be fired up but eventually it needed to be changed. My work computer (GM Parts Department) showed it's discontinued. I found out there was one dealer left in Canada with the correct belt for my car. He happened to be in Manitoba too, although 200 miles away in a small town where my sister lives. Rather than wait for my sister to get home from a trip and snag it for me, I called an bought it over the phone and had it mailed. It arrived today, one more piece for the puzzle, albeit a tiny piece!

There's some on ebay but you gotta love it when stuff is closer by, and easier to source.

Computer networking has sure made this hobby a lot easier. But man, I spend more money buying stuff now than I did when it was only Hemmings!
