Driving for Uber

Today I picked up a rider (uber terminology) and he said he knew me.   Turns out he was a customer at the Green + Ross store that I managed in Oshawa.

He tells me about a 66 Pontiac that he had and we had worked on.  Same story, the frame had rusted.

Then he proceeds to tell me about me taking a 68 Chev Station Wagon and pulling the frame out as a replacement for my 67 Impala.

Went into great detail about both of our cars.....

Great chat.

Have you had any old time chats from the past catch up to you?

Just out of curiosity, can you drive for uber in a vintage car or does it have to be new and boring?

Have to be fairly new there is an age restriction depending on the service being provided, but generally 2001 and newer. Deadmau5 likes to go around TO using his Ferrari so that's not really boring. Its kinda cool that a celebrity drives uber.

My Hyundai is a 2012 and the limit for age is 7 years, having to have a safety certificate issued each 6 months. About to reach 200,000 Km

I inquired as to when I might have to stop driving and was told December but it may be extended to March. This is my last car so I may have to increase my volunteer driving for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Has been interesting and in the next couple of days I would have done 1000 rides. Staying mostly in Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering and the rare trip to both Billy Bishop and Toronto International Airport.

We'll have to start a service called Uber Old, using classic cars, and us classic old guys!

That's not a bad idea!  A lot of people would love to ride in cool old car.  Talk about arriving in style!
