Did we miss the boat, here in Canada

I am wrecking a 1988 Mercury Cougar but before I do, now I am pulling the rest of the interior.

I don't need it but the door panels are already in cruising in a car in North Carolina !

004a.jpg

(The red on red car, is the one I'm building)

I just sent the blue"A" pillar trim to Indiana.

Both members of the Fox Body Thunderbird/Cougar forum are pretty happy with me.

(US part with common fading)

I only bought the wreck for some rare mechanical parts.(Blue car)

It was Garage kept so no sun damage.

But that was part of body's problem.

The salt would sit there in the warm garage and eat the car away.

No oil spray was ever used on this one.

The sun damage is so common in the US, why didn't we stock pile these parts in Canada ?

We could have been rich wink

There was a guy around here who was loading up with stuff that doesn't go bad here, like interior parts, dashes, etc., driving down south and exchanging them for stuff that doesn't go bad there (like body parts, etc.).  I think he focuses mostly on pickup stuff though.  Apparently he does well with it.

And... feel free to post all the Ford stuff you like.  I enjoy reading it! stirthepot.gif  runaway.gif

Don't forget Randy posted this in the lounge so as long as it's clean and not political/religious/racist anything goes. So in theory if someone wants to talk about Lada's here fill your boots!
We've lost members on CP because people complained about them talking about their off brand cars in the lounge. Too bad as many were great people.

 biggrin

Not trying to start trouble here, just trying to tease a little.

But honestly, I like all cars regardless of brand or nationality, so I'm always open to discussion about any and every type of car.

I do, however, understand why people might be put off reading about other brands when they come to a Pontiac/Canadian GM site I suppose.  To each his own, but hopefully as it was posted in the lounge forum as Todd says, it will not get anybody upset.

Besides, I think the OP's actual intent was to discuss selling interior parts south of the border, since our cooler weather tends to preserve interiors better.  I don't think this topic is Ford-specific.

MC, I could not agree with you more. I love your '88 Cougar project, ABC123. As a life-long Ford man, I have to say that your Cat is one sweet ride. I still own my first new car, a '76 Mercury Cougar XR7 with all factory options. Sweet machines!

Yeah, most here won't like this, but I've long thought the mid '80s thru mid-late '90s Fords were the best of the big three for overall lineup.  Looking at it through unbiased eyes, I thought that overall they had the best combination of styling, platform, reliability, and just plain being enjoyable to drive.

That's not to say that other manufacturers didn't have anything nice - they did - but just as a manufacturer overall I liked them the best.  That slipped a little as we went through the '00s, though the '05-'09 Mustangs are still my favourite of all (after 1970).

Of the Fox platforms, I owned a '78 Fairmont, a '92 Mustang 5.0 LX coupe (5-speed), and put quite a few miles on an '86 Cougar owned by my MIL.  All three felt good on the road, but also quite different from one another.  The Fairmont felt solid and easy to drive, the Mustang was quite stiff and a little unforgiving when pushed (you had to have quick reflexes when it tried to kill you), and the Cougar felt like a nice balance between the two.  All very comfortable to drive as well - the Mustang's seats fit me perfectly, btw.

Anyhow, before anybody's head explodes over this discussion, I'll end it there... biggrin

Um, did you read my other post ? 50 year old Canadian Poncho ?

A black 1969 Pontiac dash pad would be worth it's weight in gold in the US if it wasn't for the scrip.

Any 80s GM has the same sun damage in the US.

Monte Carlo, Regal, Cutlass.

All those rotted out frames with nice interiors gone to waste.

For those who know me, you will know I love the fun !

You cant offend me.

I am a second generation F*** worker.

I was in diapers when F*** started feeding me.

And as a second generation F*** retiree,

I will probably be in diapers when they are diapers when F*** is done feeding me biggrin

Life's to short,

enjoy !

(No GM vehicle was harmed during the making of this post)

I thought you could take a joke Randy. I always joke around when it comes to talking about F**ds. I'm glad you didn't spell out the word F**d in your post!wink

It is true to a large degree about southern metal vs. northern plastics.
