Garage reno.

existing garage is a 24 x 27 2 bay with 11ft ceiling. Not really high enough for a hoist

and not really enough room for a hoist, So have decided to extend it a few feet.

New shop will be attached to back side of old shop so only need 3 walls. Cost effective, LOL.

New shop will be a one bay 24 x 28 with hoist in center. So will have 5 feet on either side of posts.

Storage. scissor trusses with 11ft wall and 13ft center ceiling. Only been a week since excavator was

here and we have footings and walls have forms, pouring on tuesday. Things are moving quickly.

Right now the yard is a mess, lol. had 9 trees taken down. Wife is not happy, LOL. Hole is almost 7ft deep on one side.

Will post pictures tomorrow. hopefully everything flows smoothly... Been waiting for this for 30 years.

if you buy a 4 post hoist on wheels it can push over to one side giving you 3 storage spots when the time or need comes

Gonna be a 2 post, mostly for work purpose. I do this for a living and don't like 4 post hoist.

But will be mostly for personal vehicles and possibly the odd customer.

Shipping those logs to PEI could be a little expensive. LMAO.

Stop by anytime Jim. Not sure I know how to lift those unibody cars though. LOL.

Good for you Rick. Small house, big garage is by far the best combination.

I'm with you on the 4 post hoist. I'd much rather have a 2 post for working on cars but I bought a 4 post because the majority reason I have it is to be able to store 2 cars in one bay.

And it actually was great for the 4 speed conversion and pretty good for the engine swap. It sucks for wheel/tire work, suspension work and stuff like that though.

But I do enjoy the runways being there to set tools and parts on while I work, a bonus I hadn't thought of when I bought it. It's one big tool tray along each side when you're working under the car.

I like what I see Rick. Rebar and a nice retaining wall along the side. Full foundation will allow you great frost protection which you don't need badly but lots of strength for your walls and roof. You aren't taking any short cuts for sure. If you do in floor heating I would suggest laying some styrofoam below your piping. Makes your energy much more efficient. I'm happy for you.

No in floor heating. Pellet stove pipes can be seen in picture #4

Was looking at existing wall after taking all the siding off. kinda knew it was weird.

Whole house is kinda weird. Some 45* ship lap boards, some horizontal??

Looks like it was a carport originally. the last 14ft added on. Or something to that effect.

Nice, I "popped" for putting the in floor heat tubes in when "new concrete pad was poured after fire destroyed my shop, haven't hooked them up yet!! but have over head gas furnace that works well. I went for the 4 post hoist/lift as 2 post don't work very well on X frame cars, pain in the A$$ trying to get spacers in to clear mufflers & "shaky" once you do!!!I'm sure you will be pleased with new addition.

No water out to the shop, so makes it a little hard to have heated floors.

Doesn't get that cold out here for that long so just won't go out there when it does, LOL, Right.

I plan on using a "closed" loop system for floor as having water supply to heater is "iffy" in case of power failure!! reservoir with pressure bladder , heater, & circulation pump.

2 walls are up, pouring floor tuesday.

Things moving along pretty fast. Wife is having issues due to shop being right beside bedroom

and she can't sleep in. Medical issues, so guess who pays for that. Been a little rough last few days.

Hopefully coming to a close quickly. trusses booked for thursday or friday.

Guys like to start at 8 to get thing done and leave by 4.
